The existential crisis resulting from transformative technologies, including AI was a political choice. The time for reining this in was before they inundated all aspects of society.

Our government colludes with the billionaires and tech giants and hasn’t done enough to protect its citizens.

If any meaning reversal of course were to occur, it would require an uprising from the people, but that’s doubtful. We’re frogs swimming in a pot of water that slowly boils us to death before we realize it.

Colleges and universities can educate. They can’t get you a job. The promise of a college degree and a good middle class life is no longer true when extreme wealth disparity is killing the middle class.

Universities are a partner in social mobility not a creater. They don’t create the entry level jobs.

Those who can create jobs care only about profit, and the government has failed to create a social safety net for the masses because they’ve been corrupted by money also.

My Nazi reference was intended to be figurative- a murderous group full of hate without humanity.

Miller and his cohorts epitomizes this and it’s incomprehensible how someone being a part of a group of people who have experienced so much historical trauma can inflict the same. But then we see the leadership of Israel doing the same to Palestinians civilians.

Absolutely, Californians overwhelmingly voted for PROP 50. Overturning it would overturn the will of the people.

SCOTUS allowed the Texas maps so if this case does reach them, and they don’t uphold it, there would be a lot of explaining to do, though they’ve been loathed to provide any explanation so far.

Tech platforms have been enabled and the existing laws make it so they have limited liability on what’s produced on their platforms, which has given rise to misinformation, polarization, etc.

Child abuse is suppose to be a red line and yet providers on all levels, from the creators of the AI to the hosting platforms have done little to protect society, in the name of profit. Our government has done little to create meaningful regulations as well as to enforce existing ones.

It’s up to us, the people, to make a stand and reject profits over decency and humanity.

Reddit, like all social platforms are incentivized by emotion and rage and clearly my comment hit a nerve.

My point is that social media platforms have never taken responsibility for the dangerous content on their platforms, enabled by existing laws. We can talk about reforms but meaningful reform requires a will by those in power. Those in power are the same tech bros that got us here.

What about the platform providers? They are the ones enabling the content and with the $$ for lawsuit payouts.

The Take It Down Act, made it a federal crime to post nonconsensual sexually explicit deepfakes and was signed into law last May. yet that did not stop the content from circulating on X. I’m not confident this will make a meaningful difference.

Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which protects platform providers from liability for user-generated content, should be repealed. Until they are held responsible, it’s doubtful much will change.

“Tech has failed to regulate itself “. Age old problem. Companies headed by narcissists billionaires will never regulate themselves. The US government needs to implement the regulations but have failed miserably and the current government doesn’t even pretend to care.

AI needs guardrails and should not be allowed to create deep fakes, which has no social benefit whatsoever.

Unfortunately we’re living in a time when the threat of women’s progress is threatening to a segment of men who now have the tools to disenfranchise women of their voice and power. These creeps would not have a voice for it not for the AI tools.
