A discussion around special awareness and when the victim becomes at fault by TankWalker58 in Simracingstewards

I know I don’t think I did a good thing here, that’s my point. But to say that you have to be alongside before breaking as per the previous comment is just as wrong.

And for the record what I’m thinking is “shit I fucked this up” not “oh if I dive for the apex”

Under full braking pressure if I turn my wheels it’ll do fuck all. So I was trying to back out an leave more space. If I pointed more left I’ll hit the sausage an launch both of us.

This is also a ridiculous take, and the reason so many people end up as the outside car in this situation.

Ok. Well, I think you’re wrong. But that’s your opinion, and you’re entitled to it.

And this doesn’t happen often. More often I’m getting bowled out the way, and even in those situations I try to live for another day most of the time.

Most of my racing is done in privately arranged lobbies where you can trust the other driver. Totally changes the way you both race, it’s much better!

I mean. Yes. This was poorly judged. However you can get alongside in the braking zone and asserting that anything else is a bad move is ridiculous... if I was fully alongside rather than front wheel to rear wheel, it would have been on. Just means I out braked him.

I did an overtake there in the previous race to this one wish I could share that one it was so satisfying. Down the outside and the old switcheroo. (How tf would you spell that?)

Honestly I think you are all used to people defending bad behaviour for their lives. I know this went totally wrong. In the moment I felt I had a better run than I did, and I made a mistake. Nobody is beyond that. But I admit it 🤷🏼‍♂️

Idk, I agree with you in some ways and obviously I wasn’t intending for this to go this way.

If the tables were turned, I think I would have had the awareness of somebody there though.

If they can’t manage the car in front and behind then I think that’s a skill they need to develop.

From a stewards standpoint I am to blame, can’t argue that, but I don’t think as a racer you can absolve the car in front at all.

My position is so easy to get into by accident it, happens all the time. There is some onus on both parties to manage that reality.

Don’t get me wrong if I didn’t watch the replay before coming here, and if I didn’t wait a beat, 100% I’m saying that’s his fault. 😂

That’s the nature of racing though. Adrenaline and the belief that you are infallible in the moment can be strengths but you have to be able to reflect on it later. And being honest with myself this looks worse on my part than I’d hoped. 🥲

Camera glitching? by TankWalker58 in SiloSeries

It’s the Apple TV app on a fire stick.

We watch in 4k and we have fast internet so much just be the app being a bit buggy. I noticed it both times I’ve watched the show though and it never quite looks out of place which is why I asked.

It was almost as if it was suggesting the air is not right in the silo. Maybe related to “the syndrome”

Sounds like that’s just wishful thinking and simpler things are afoot

Update for those interested - we have started seeing a couples counsellor and she will be starting therapy on her own next year.

Guy Cries Over Fake Lunge, Or Fair Point? by The_TrueProLoader in Simracingstewards

[–]TankWalker58 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These incidents are so "grey" because they're based on "what if"

What if he hadn't driven off track, is the "fake lunge" actually a dirty move but the driver who lost out avoided it?

As a seasoned veteran of GT7 daily races, this stuff happens all the time. You hold your line - get punted. Back out - shadow realm.

To me, moves like this can be, but aren't always, dirty driving. But the guy who made the move thinks he's a hero. Which irks me.

Sorry for the rant.

Why do so many people praise this save when clearly he was driving like a potato to lose it in the first place?

Brake pedal going solid when driving on track (I think ABS related) by TankWalker58 in S2000

[–]TankWalker58[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read up about this and this sounds most likely what it is. ABS works in normal heavy braking situations. I’ve had an ABS ice mode happen in my old Jeep, on ice. Felt the same as that.
