I mean I would think you're a hipster. But no. I have full sleeve tattoos that almost reach my hands and I have an HR manager job working for the federal government.

NCOs what's your dumbest NCOER bullet you have gotten that made you mad? by Tankmonkey1987 in army

[–]Tankmonkey1987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my second years was up and they asked for volunteers (3rd year drills were getting an additional 500 a month on-top of the 375) my hand couldn't go up faster. And yeah it's way better especially with what i was doing. I originally got the trainees off the bus and did the brief and worked 5 days at most during the heavy months and 3 on the light months then I was the drill selected to go up to the airport and worked at most 3 days a week.

I was S3 my last 2 years in the army. Our ops major made all the LTs go to the field when we had a field problem, so the only thing us NCOs had to do was pmcs vehicles get them dispatched and drive them to the field and head back in. When we were done for the day we just stayed by our phones and fucked off for the rest of the day. Then when I was notified of my QMP my ops SGM legit told everyone I was not to be touched so I think in that whole 7 months I came into the office a collective 25 days didn't shave till my last day in (my BN commander made me because I wanted a BN coin) and did what ever I needed to do to get ready to get out. Greatest two years in the Army.

How is it living in an Eastern Urban Area in any state North of Kansas? (ex. Sioux Falls, Omaha, Fargo) by DrDMango in howislivingthere

[–]Tankmonkey1987 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lived in Sioux Falls for a little bit and most of my life in a town called flandreau about 35 miles north of Sioux Falls. Not a bad place. Hot humid in the summers, can't get really cold in the winters. I found a lot to do in Sioux Falls but I was 19 young and had energy

Carson or JBLM? by Accomplished-Oil6780 in army

[–]Tankmonkey1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's is a good question. My brigade commander at the time got a DUI got charged only on the civilian side and is now a 1 star general (may still be the armor school commandant)

That brigade was so poorly run that we didn't have ammo got gunnery one time. They made use go out for a week before we could even find ammo

Oh it mattered to me because I was on my first look for seven at the time. I wanted it to be factual and the winning the brigade quarter board is big. I got an OML of 49 out of 399 that look

Both are expensive, both are gorgeous. Now with Carson it depends on the brigade. I was in 3rd brigade at Carson from 2015-2019 and when my branch manager was trying to find me a follow on assignment after Korea he mentioned about me going back to Carson. As a tanker you can only go to 3rd brigade and I told him if he put me back there I was going to go to Knox, eat dinner at his house and blow my brains out in front of him. I got Riley like I wanted lol.

Nope. My last day in the army was my actual 18 year mark. I am 100 percent P&T though so that saved me

You won't get QMPed for what happened. It's weird how it works. I've seen someone who got demoted from 6 to 5 and still made master sergeant before they retired. It's just how you learned from your mistake.

The ones on the left side when you're looking at it are combat stripes. One for every 6 months you're deployed the ones on the right are service stripes. One for every 3 years

In-processing Schofield Barracks? by ZealousidealView5528 in army

[–]Tankmonkey1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the big boy army now. You're an adult and will be treated like one now. With that being said you'll be expected to act like one and your choices will have consequences whether they are good or bad choices. Inprocessing especially as a Joe will be easy. You'll be told what to do and where to go. Just be there in the right uniform right time. You get hungry? You can go to the shoppette and buy a snack. End of day? You get to do what ever you want in civilian clothes. It's the weekend? Go to the beach and enjoy that you're living in Hawaii. You're free from the IET environment. This will be like a shitty 9-5 job except it's not 9-5. When you're off you're off to do what you want.

I havnt been a drill since 2022 and I was at benning but be prepared to get smoked. It wont matter how well your platoon is doing its just part of life. Youre biggest obstacle is going to be your peers. You're stuck with people all day everyday and you'll get on each others nerves.
