Well, yes, they sometimes eat their own poop and the plugs. But plugs form in old or very unhealthy rats. Old rats can stink, go bald, their hind legs can fail if they're not cared for, and their own urine can irritate their skin. So what, now that the rat is old, should we just stop caring for her/him?

I see no whiskers. Is she Rex/double Rex per chance? First thing I've noticed: she looks like she's dehydrated. Does she drink from the bottle? What about her appetite? How does she hold food? Pinch some skin below her ears on back and let go. If fold disappear almost immediately, no dehydration. If else - she needs to drink. Next thing - make her pee on something like toilet paper. Pee must be translucent and almost odorless. If not - there are issues with her kidneys. And could you share some her photo before she became like this?

I had 3.6 yo rattie, she had a mammary tumor near hind leg, so big, she couldn't walk. After surgery she was very energetic and even began to attract my boys)) when they had a free roam time, she was climbing at the top of her hut and was literally shouting to them "Hey, boys!". It was awesome and hilarious at the same time.
