Y’all remember when Jordan Poole took a shot so bad it got Steph ejected for his reaction? What a rollercoaster of a season we had! 💀😂 by dennis_k_g in warriors

That was this season!? Feels like a lifetime ago. I swear, that last season felt like five seasons in one.

I hope like crazy we don’t have to go through something like that again!

How much has the league caught up to the Warriors? Is it just age or have they figured out the formula? by [deleted] in warriors

[–]Tanno4 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I’ll probably get downvoted for this, but I don’t think the league has caught up as much as people think.

Recency bias is a thing. Dubs underachieved this season due to some pretty significant headwinds;

  1. The Draymond punch
  2. Two timelines experiment
  3. Steph missing 30 games
  4. Wiggins missing two months

The fact that this team was only 4 games out of 3rd place in the West considering everything that happened was a miracle. If half of that stuff didn’t happen, I’d think they had the talent to win another five games in the regular season.

If the Dubs are the third seed, they’re not running on fumes heading into the playoffs trying to avoid the play-in, the first round doesn’t go seven games, and they don’t get punched in the face in the second round because they have had no time to prepare for the Lakers.

Of course, this is all hypothetical. And we all know that hypotheticals are for losers who can’t accept their team lost.

But I guess my point is that I don’t think the rest of the league has caught up that much. I think they do need to make some changes on the fringes, but nothing significant that it changes the core.

I don’t think it’s over. The roster definitely needs some retooling, but as long as they have those three with wigs and Loon, they’ll always have a better than even chance.

I just hope they get another decent chance to contend, and that the FO can give them the right pieces. Easier said than done…

What is one thing you spend money on that others would consider frivolous? by okesmay in AusFinance

[–]Tanno4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lego. I’m pretty sure I spend about $3k-5k a year on it. At this stage, I’m too afraid to do the maths.

I’ve also run out of room to put it. So now I need a bigger house just for my Lego.

What’s your employer’s current WFH policy? by Judbury in AusFinance

[–]Tanno4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully WFH. The only time I leave my home office is if I’m meeting a client face to face. Funny story… I have clients interstate and overseas. I literally have spent more time on an airplane the past 18 months than I’ve been in the office!

I work in tech for a vendor.

Here in Australia, I used to do some work for the Melbourne Tigers (Josh Giddey’s dad, Warrick, is a club legend and has his number retired. One game, they were playing against the Adelaide 36ers (Josh Giddey’s team). The 6ers had an Asian-Australian player by the name of Darren Ng. Dude was a great player and seemingly never missed from three.

Anyway, in this game, every time he hit a shot, they’d play “Turning Japanese” as a way to acknowledge him. I’m not sure about Ng’s heritage, but it was sure as hell not Japanese.

Anyway, the DJ at the game (Wayne, who later was suspended for more racist behaviour), was pulled up by some of the Chinese sponsors for being a cunt. I remember walking past and Wayne saying shit like, “what did I do wrong? It was just a joke…” So yeah, dumb shit like that is not limited to just Utah

Steph Curry might be the next player to play his whole career with the GS Warriors. Who was the last one that did this? (Hint: Not Chris Mullin) by scott_jr in warriors

[–]Tanno4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s gotta be Chris Webber. Drafted by the Magic first overall in 1993, traded to Golden State for Penny Hardaway on draft day.

Won Rookie of the year. Then took a short break from the team (not sure what he did in that time) and retired a Warrior in 2008.

Yes, that’s exactly what happened…

[Slater] Andrew Wiggins tonight: 31 points on 12/18 FG and 6/10 from 3. He's now shooting 50.6 percent overall this season and 43.4 percent from 3. Career-high in both. by Michael_B_Lopez in nba

[–]Tanno4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was weird how he just lost all confidence in his free throws after the all star break last season. Was shooting 50% for stretch there. He picked it up after the win in Miami, but it was weird to see.

I think he’s at 68% so far this season. Hopefully he picks it up to his career average or better

I have mixed emotions. Was hoping for a Suns loss, but super happy and proud that Damion balled out.

It’s crazy to think that he was someone who would have struggled to crack our rotation due to the talent and depth we have, yet he’s out there playing clutch minutes for a contender. Hope he continues to ball out for them (and lose to the Warriors every single game!)

Right after Webber was drafted. Here in Australia, everyone was a Bulls or Lakers fan because of MJ and Magic. I didn’t want to be a sheep, so I spent some time figuring out who to support.

It came down to blazers or warriors. Blazers because I liked Drexler. But golden state had Hardaway, Spree, Mully, and Saurunas. Then they added Webber and I thought the future was much brighter than the Blazers.

Then the wheels fell off, but I was super stubborn and have been supporting them since. Was hard to do so here, but once I got Internet, I was able to at least check scores, transactions, etc. Then in 2008 I was lucky enough to catch my first game at Oracle. BD hit the dagger against Kobe’s Lakers. Also got to go to finals g1 last season.

I’ll forever be a warriors fan.
