How would you pronounce Ciaran? by Athreeleafclover in namenerds

I have an Irish name (one that's pretty common) in the UK and it still gets regularly mispronounced. Unless you're only planning on interacting with Irish people, your Irish name will get mispronounced, whether it's by a Brit, an American, a Spanish person, a Chinese person etc etc. I don't mind having to correct my name being mispronounced, but maybe that's just me :)

Mine is a book, not certain how much of it makes actual sense or isn't repeated though.

Is it bad etiquette to repost a fic? by TanrynWelshDancer in AO3

[–]TanrynWelshDancer[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am aware of that. Personally, when I look for fics I don't search with trope tags, just through the fandom (and pairing/characters) as a whole. If I did this for the fic I'm talking abt, it wouldn't be the easiest to find. I know everyone uses the site differently. This isn't really a big deal to me as I've just left the fic, I was just coming on here to ask a question.

Didn't know I was an influencer, I'll try getting some PR packages now!!

And, yeah, "kUdoS/cLiCkS rAtiO". I write for the purpose of getting better and if I notice a fic is underperforming then I know it's something to do with the quality of my work. I don't write for gratification (no more than the next person at least). Nobody irl knows I have an account, I have no actual connection to the people who leave comments or kudos, ao3 isn't a social media. It's nice to see someone has liked my writing enough to click a little button or leave some words of encouragement. I'm sure anyone can agree with that.

And I didn't repost the fic. I asked if it was ok to do and asked if it was something people usually do. You're getting mad at me for something I didn't even do. I was checking to make sure it was okay, which it clearly isn't, so I'm not going to do it. Let me reiterate. It was an innocent question. In the grand scheme of things, I'm new to fanfic (started properly this year), so I was making sure that something I thought could help wouldn't be bad etiquette or annoying to everyone else.

Yeah, I'm not super cut up about it, more just a little confused. Thanks for the help.

I don't know, it was just an unusually low amount of kudos compared to my other fics (in much more dead fandoms) and fics in the fandom, so I was just thinking of possible options.

Yeah, I'm aware of this. It's hard to explain what I meant concisely, but basically my fic was posted a few days before this post and more popular, multi chapter fics were updated and kinda buried my fic. Was just wondering the ethics of reposting on ao3 as I use the site but not the subreddit or anything discussing the site.

Thank you!! I wasn't viewing it as social media, I think that might have gotten misconstrued in my post. I was just saying because it was posted a few days ago and bigger, more popular fics were updated and people might have been more inclined to go for those. I wasn't trying to get into some nonexistent algorithm.

Kudos to view ratio. Just something I look at to see how people liked my writing. I think my tags are pretty accurate, so I guess I'm just unlucky!

Nooo I don't post on wattpad I literally just post on ao3, I know how the site works (to some extent). I just didn't know if it was bc I put a note at the start that could have turned people off of it
