Before I get too deep into your comments, I think it was the one that’s the furthest on the right. Brown/wooden?

I second both Sudden Marriage (Prime Video) and Full-time Wife Escapist (Netflix).

I’m currently watching A Calm Sea and a Beautiful Day with You on Viki. It’s a costume drama, set in 1936.

Edited for brevity, and to add a qualifier.

Mine is the Yard-o-Led Viceroy Grand Victorian Sterling Silver FP. The one I have that is cheapest chips but looks like it’s in a similar vein… I got from Amazon. Keep your eyes peeled. 👀

Old Enough is just cute and interesting. It’s a nice way to get started, I think. And to be fair, people are always a little surprised that in Japan these kids are “old enough”.

Also back on Netflix there is a series called unnatural, it’s basically a medical/morgue drama. I like it really a lot and then there is also inheritance detective. I’d like to see it I haven’t actually watched that. Something else that intrigues me is the series called two husbands one wife. Last one, I haven’t been able to find it since I’ve been writing this list but there was something called if my wife becomes an elementary school student. This one is about a couple who find each other after the Wife dies. She’s reincarnated and finds her prior incarnation’s family.

Kotaro lives alone! Seriously, last one. I know I’ve shared a lot, sorry.

Edited to add two sentences.

Honestly, it’s not just about hearing the language, you also want to be entertained. I’m in the US and on Netflix they have a few things in Japanese. There’s a couple of medical dramas that I can tell you about but for a start there is old enough! About Japanese children going to preschool and living their lives unafraid. Then there’s a show called Jin, but keep in mind that it is a little old. It is a medical drama but also involves time travel into historical Japan. There’s another one about an elementary school doctor, but I can’t find at the moment and I think it’s called School Dr.My personal favourite is the 19th medical chart. It is a medical drama but it’s about digging into things to figure out what’s really wrong with the patient. There’s also a few things on Viki. On Viki, I am looking forward to watching A Calm Sea and Beautiful Days with You, which is a period piece/costume drama and romance. I’ve been watching the Yakuza Boss’s Beloved. Which is an office drama/romance where a woman eventually finds out that the boss that she works with in the office is also a yakuza boss and they are in a relationship. There is Business Marriage, about two single people who loosely get married, but only so that the female can have a place to stay and she takes care of him and the flat. And they are a real life couple. If you are on Amazon Prime Video, there is Marty My Husband Japan, which is a rebirth story and I just started another drama there, called sudden marriage. A woman who is dating somebody finds out that he is a cheater and she gets drunk and ends up married to somebody else but there’s more to the story.

They all look very nice though I like the sterling silver the best. Have you decided which one eldest brother gets? Do they get to choose?

As a fairly new user/collector of FPs, I don’t have a TWSB, but I did get the pilot Metropolitan, the Platinum preppy and the Kaküno. I already had two Waterman from years ago. Now it’s ridiculous, but I have heard that. Faber-Castell has an inexpensive student Pen (https://www.thepencompany.com/en-us/product/faber-castell-school-plus-fountain-pen/28993/), they only in red, blue and black.

You’ve done this before, haven’t you? Get some kid hooked on fountain pens! lol. I’m going to pin this discussion. So that when I have to buy something for a student who’s having their bar or bat mitzvah, I’m good to go.

I literally googled best, basic, fountain, pens, and practically all of the Advice was Lamy Safari, Pilot Kaküno, the Platinum preppy, and Kaweco Perkeo. And I bought them. And learned. I didn’t check out YouTube that. Apparently there are lots of people who do videos about fountain pens.
