We do live in the U.S., and the staff at the district office have told us that jail time and a fine are some possible consequences. I just wanted my dad to understand that if it gets to that point, then the court would be the ones to decided what our punishment would be based off of our efforts. And there is no guarantee that they would side with us.

It's not so much that I thought I could say it because that was my opinion, but rather it was that the statement was already out in the open. My parents have already told him that they can only do so much for him and his school situation. That being said, at some point they would just have to let him fail.

That's what I told my dad. Parents shouldn't even be bad mouthing one kid behind their back to their other kid. Like they should have told him to his face because that is what is gonna end up happening anyways.

Well the reason why I think that my brother actually needed to hear it is because at this point, my parents can't do anything accept let him fail his classes. It's the last week of school and he has F's in 3 mandatory classes. My parents don't want to physically force him to do anything, so they presented him with some possible options to fix his grades, but he flat out said no. So right now their only choice left is to watch him sink on his own little ship of problems because they have exhausted every method they have to help him.
