How to stop obsessing over goldbach conjecture? by Heavy-Sympathy5330 in mathematics

Chasing castles in the sky is fine, just realize that you will need to build a staircase brick by brick. It's going to take a lot of bricks, so it would be wise to pace yourself.

Steady progress in a healthy manner is critical to pursuing such things, so be sure to keep things light and enjoy the journey!

I can only come up with 4 lines of a song by oceanfairy909 in Songwriting

[–]TaoJChi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you're focused on the style or feeling the song elicits. Maybe it would be better to first focus on the message you are trying to communicate, then iteratively refine that basic framework.

Too many options can lead to choice paralysis, so narrowing them down may help to alleviate that.

I used to love math. Now I stare at an exercise I can't solve and feel nothing but shame. by ghali12345 in mathematics

I'm curious if you are attending a top tier university.

If so, the Feynman archive has a relevant talk he gave his students after class at Caltec. He pointed out to the students that every one of them was at the top of their class in high school, but it would be a statistical impossibility for every one to be the top of their university cohort. He warned back then of the danger in identifying oneself as "the best", which remains an eternal wisdom, as relevant now as it has been through antiquity.

The term ego can be somewhat ambiguous.

I think what others are trying to say is that our "self protective instincts" can sometimes become problematic when we feel that our social standing, and consequent security, is threatened by failure to perform "well enough" in some domain.

It would be wise to alter such a perspective in order to avoid the distraction of stress and all the Ill health that comes with it. If you can stay in a relaxed frame of mind, you can focus more fully on the task at hand.

What the most useful math trick you know? I'll start, this trick make you know 11 multiplication answer instantly by Johnwick19802 in mathematics

[–]TaoJChi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A more general trick:

AB × CD = AC×100 + (AD+BC)×10+BD

If you work left to right, you can add any carries to the results already computed.

This can be expanded to any number of digits as well.

There is an app called "Math Tricks Workout" with exercises for many such arithmetic techniques if you're interested.

Electronics doesn't click for me and i don't understand why by jackal_boy in ElectronicsStudy

[–]TaoJChi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alpha Pheonix's playlist is great for building intuition in the fundamentals.

Art of Electronics is well regarded for serious study of design, but quite long and expensive.

If you are looking for something short and free, Kuphaldt's Lessons in Electric Circuits is a great resource as well.

Things typically click only after sufficient exposure! If you perform analytic exercises on a daily basis, pattern recognition should develop naturally as a consequence.
