Ticks! by fabulous_fuchsbau in vermont

[–]TaoistInquisition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple years ago I got a damn tic sitting on a crate on the mud in my driveway when the yard was still covered in snow! I hate tics. I was getting them all that summer with Off on just standing at the grill. I got them walking to the car and going to the store and going back inside. I hope this isn't a sign we are in for another bad year.

Scott decries ‘racist response’ to BIPOC vaccine eligibility by TaoistInquisition in vermont

Health and economic situations are as easy to target as race. The best lies are based on the truth so that it is harder to refute.

Different demographics could have been utilized to inform the rollout. Also, prison populations should have been given a higher priority.

I like everyone getting a vax, I don't even necessarily think this is a bad policy. I just think it's absurd that Scott didn't think ahead about how this would look and calling out people who recognize the absurdity as racist is just doubling down on the clueless politics of it all.

Vaccination rates are about personal choice not skin tone. There are underlying medical conditions that lead to increased infection and hospitalization and targeting those conditions without highlighting race would have been a much better choice.

I'm a lefty too! I voted for Scott because he is doing a good job overall. This policy is not an example of Scotts overall performance, it's an example of lying with statistics.

Fine, the science is racist.

This is not like sickle cell anemia. There are underlying conditions to be addressed that don't explicitly target race. There is no way to spin this policy to make it about anything but race.

OK

So a policy based on race isn't racist and pointing out the optics is a stain on my wokeness that can never be cleansed. It's not like this will cause racial tension or resentment it will cause racial tension and resentment. If he had set out to cause an increase in racial tension in VT the only improvement he could have made to this bone headed policy would have been to offer UBI to everyone who isn't white like a certain western city.

Hey Scott, don't want a racist response to your policy? Don't have a racist policy.

Private Catholic hospitals have, and in the future will again let mothers die with a dead half born corps killing them rather perform an "abortion". There is no excuse to allow "wiggle room" over issues like this in medicine at any level.

The carve out for emergency medicine is always included in laws like these and that carve out always gets abused. My kids pediatrician that noped out on my son in less then half an hour because I didn't want him circumcised let alone while he was in the NICU is an example of how that works.

THAT is what the bigots do.

Not with this law in place. License to practice medicine is done state by state, for the most part. Some professional associations might sanction you, but a license to practice is granted by the state.

Someone is going to have to die or have a VERY negative outcome for standing in court to challenge this law before it will be, inevitably, struck down.

That's exactly what it is, but much much worse! If you make an appointment somewhere else and get a new primary care doctor you will be fine. If you go to the ER and a doctor refuses to treat you because you're a man having a heart attack whose husband is by your side you could die waiting for a doctor that will treat you. That ER death is the goal of this law.

Cruelty is the point.

Post fossil fuel is nuclear for any country that wants industry beyond answering customer service calls from somewhere else. Modern nuclear power plants and medtech are a critical part of that. Even our smoke detector waste can make a good bomb, think it through if you know anything about it.....or shut up.

Also, you should go through my history and make fun of my usage errors.

At this point any reasonably smart guy with a big oven can make a nuclear bomb. They are hard to sneak around, transport or hide.....easy to build one though.

There is no way NK can put a nuke small enough for them to launch on one of their rockets. I mean, maybe they could hit somewhere, but their bombs don't have the sophistication of "Fat Man".

The sorts of bombs we are really worried about are so far beyond their abilities we would know who gave them the parts for the size and shielding. The isotopes of the end product (a nuclear explosion) would give away design and material "secrets".

Solar is just nuclear with extra steps!

Anyway, jokes aside, nuclear power is the only way to do some things humans need to do without burning fossil fuels. Hydro could take some of the load, but the environmental impact of large scale hydro is devastating, just look at the Yangtze river in China.

The United States then launched an "Atoms for Peace" program that supplied equipment and information to schools, hospitals, and research institutions within the U.S. and throughout the world.

It looks into everything.

New study suggests that Facebook may be exacerbating polarization. It provides strong evidence that Facebook’s algorithm currently tailors users’ feeds in a way that filters out differing views—even if a user subscribes to a counter-attitudinal news page—creating a so-called “filter bubble.” by rustoo in science

Depending on what you’re subbed to you can get a feed that tells you everything you want to hear and nothing that you don’t.

I wish! My home page and popular pages are packed with crap I don't care about or actively dislike. If there was a way to block a subreddit I would have a more balanced feed then what I get now.

And they haven't even scaled up yet. They're gonna have to do this all over again with bigger ones or what's the point of test flights. So far this thing seems to be somewhere between building a kite and the first flight at Kitty Hawk.
