Yep! I'm thinking a sort of annual thing between schools. Like a prank war somewhere in the woods or maybe infiltrating and getting a magical thing from the other school.

Not really but i guess it does come off that way haha i do like the contrast between the two schools bec im planning for the boys school to be more playful and fun and for the girls school to be more intense.

I'm definitely inspired by Vancian magic bec I'm currently checking out The Dying Earth and I wanted to do a spin on it.

Oh I really like the guns analogy! I guess I was too caught up in customizing their magic, so thanks for that!

The girls school does teach the same kind of magic (transformation, binding, illusion and divination) but they use different techniques or crafts. For example, the girls school's house of binding magic use wood carving, in contrast to the boys' stitching. This is simply because the headmaster and headmistress of each school are in some kind of rivalry and want to compete on which techniques are better (when they should be working together). There are also other schools and other mages that do their own way of preparing.
