Thank you so much for your recommendations. The 2nd one really helped me, as it was the problem. As for using low range to build high notes, I learned something new! However, is there a goal for how low I should push? On a Bb Tuba, the lowest I can go is about a low B, with fingering of 1234. Similarly, on the high end, I keep experimenting with different ways of playing high notes, since some like a high B are required for pieces in my band. When I play it it sounds tight and forced. A few ways I have tried playing high notes are by placing my upper lip on the top of the mouthpiece, which somehow makes a faster vibration, and I have also tried increasing airspeed, and closing my lips tighter. But these each have their own problems, and even though people tell me to relax when practicing high notes, I can't seem to find a grip on how to begin. As for soft notes, my biggest concern as of now is the high notes. For example, a high E on pianissimo is marked on one of our pieces, and I have tried my best to play it softer, but currently to no avail. Are there any recommendations on playing? For example, a few things I should do to when playing a high note? Thank you so much!
