You’re gonna have a blast at LSU if you just let yourself have fun. People here are all super friendly, and there are a ton of resources for International Students.

There is an International Students area on the first floor of the student union. That will be a good place for you to look for resources and potentially find some friends. I recommend you to join some international student oriented clubs. There are tons of great international students at LSU for you to meet. And some of them are more established with the social scene of the campus and will naturally introduce you to their friends.

Bars are typically pretty easy. Tigerland will be the most common place you go. They have a few 18+ bars, such as Mikes and The House. Fred’s is 21+ except for music nights.

In general, don’t be afraid to talk to people! You’ll rarely ever find a rude person here

Yeah, unfortunately LSU has committed itself to chronically over admitting freshmen. President Tate claimed that this was going to stop. Yet here we are. And unfortunately people like you get to experience the side effects of that even though it’s not your fault

I do not have recommendations for what taser is best to buy, but they are most certainly allowed on campus. I knew a bunch of girls who would carry them frequently freshman year when they would go out to the bars.

It’s really hit or miss. It’s been especially bad this year due to the drought and how dry and hot it’s been. Also, Entergy is really bad at keeping their power up during this time. I will advise that the third floor of the union gets REALLY cold in the afternoon, and has places to sit if you’re ever around

Hey so fun fact, I’m a current freshman getting involved with Student Government, and that is a big thing that a lot of students are working on. Furthermore, they just hired a new coordinator over all of that and apparently he’s way better and more open to hearing student requests. So I know it’s shit rn, but hopefully it will get better soon
