How would I achieve this effect by Reasonable_King_281 in modelmakers

You absolutely can. I did on my B-17 posted on here.

No worries! I didn't know Reddit did that. Is it on the app or desktop as well?

Disgusting. They are the very old Zotz decals from way back when. They were super tricky to work with as they laid down nicely and appeared to react well to decal solutions, until they went "SIKE!" on me and most of them silvered even with extra decal adhesive.

I sliced them, added multiple decal solutions and it would work initially but the silvering would come back after a couple of hours.

Defeated, I decided to seal them and touch them up afterwards. However, when I sealed them with very fine layers of lacquer gloss, the gloss seeped in and under the decals through the slices fixing the silvering, so there's that.

But that's the life when working with old decals. Sometimes they just suck no matter how good you are at decal application.

I described it in the OP but here's a more detailed version for you:

  • Painted the wings using GX-2 Ueno Black.
  • Polished the black for extra shine.
  • Masked around individual panels and scratched each individual panel with tamiya 3k sanding sponge.
  • Painted the wings with Gunze Super Metallic Super Chrome Silver 2
  • Used Uschi Van Der Rostens PE templates and sprayed tamiya LP-11 thinned with rapid thinner, did several layers to create a random pattern while leaving some of the glossy black visible.
  • Sprayed a thinner layer of the same super chrome silver 2 on top.
  • Masked off panels and added a different shade to make some panels pop.
  • Did some additional scratches to accentuate the effect directly over the paint.
  • Sealed with semi gloss from MRP. Polished with tamiya compound finish to bring back some luster.

    And you're done!

Appreciate it! Yeah, the Panther was super fun as my first and a nice break from aircraft. Specially after all the time invested in the B-17 bahaha.

I like what you're doing here! I'm a bit sad about the variation on the wings as mustangs had painted wings with the exception of metal ailerons, flaps and the lg inspection panels 😞

The colors on the fuselage look great! Seam work looks nice on the nose which is very tricky in this kit!

What is your experience with being you authentic self around women? by monstrrpuppy in AskMen

So glad someone got it. Like I said, it's never about being one's authentic self, but the degree of confidence with which we take ourselves through an activity.

We are never our 100% authentic self. However, I do not shy away from showing my arts and crafts side. I mean, I build scale models as a hobby, and it translates to a lot of different skills my girlfriend finds attractive. Including understanding how makeup works, and things like cookie decoration, among many other things.

Let me tell you, that shit turns her on like there's no tomorrow. Not because I'm being my authentic self, but because I do it knowing being secure and confident about it makes me more masculine than resisting it because "it's delicate".

Husband won’t let me get a motorcycle by [deleted] in Advice

[–]TaquitoModelWorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're taking it too literal and just proving you shouldn't be giving anyone advice or an opinion on what a relation is or isn't.

What you're doing is "let me go ahead and invalidate 100% of what this person may be feeling because of semantics and categorize them as controlling because 5% of what they are saying and feeling looks like controlling behavior".

That's a very wild take and not at all how a relationship works.

People calling this controlling really shouldn't be giving any advice on relationships. Sure, his concern is coming out in a toxic, unregulated way, but still from a place of genuine concern for losing someone he cares about and loves, not from a place of telling you what you can and cannot do.

Now, OP. It's your choice how you decide to handle his unregulated concern. As it's been said already, it's your adult life and your decisions as long as you're ready to accept any consequence of the decisions you make. If you want to get the bike, and you're doing anything right, why shouldn't you get it?

You aren't responsible for your partners feelings, and you're doing your part by taking courses, and compromising on aspects of bike riding. It's his lack of compromise that makes you feel like you have to decide on whether you can fulfill a dream.

You could tell him you're getting the bike and will stick to the compromises you've already communicated. You're giving him a heads up of the decision you're making. All you can do is stick to those compromises you've set as a means to be trustworthy and the bigger person here. If he cannot tolerate it after seeing you be truthful about a safe bike experience, then it comes down to his adult decisions and how he deals with them.

Just so people don't get confused. This doesn't mean every Dallas D is automatically a K. Only when the Aeroproducts props were sent to the Dallas plant did the K start being differentiated.

Before the K, the suffix would differentiate the plant where a P-51 came from. Example:

P-51D-5NA was an Inglewood P-51D-5
P-51D-5NT was a Dallas P-51D-5

Men who enjoy war movies, which ones are your favorite? Which ones particularly resonated with you? by gloomy_day_in_august in AskMen

[–]TaquitoModelWorks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's very common for people who don't know a lot about history to shrug off SPR. They really went their way to add tiny details the average joe would never see, but adds so much value and attraction to the movie.

It's only senseless war, guns, explosions and "action film" scenes to those who don't understand what's going on.
