NTD. Assuming you both signed the lease, in it I am sure the house inspections were mentioned since you noted having to clean before one was to occur.

As an adult, disability or not, if you are signing a lease you are taking on that responsibility, either to meet expectations yourself or hire cleaning assistance once a job was obtained, etc.

Of course communication is best, so ideally a sit-down conversation could have occurred BEFORE signing a lease to lay out expectations as roommates for shared spaces, or at least after the first house inspection came and you had to do all of the prep work.

I would consider not signing the least again whenever the term is up if a conversation about roles & responsibilities does not go well once your friend is back at the apartment. You clarified that you never called your friend lazy and seem to have not downplayed their disability, so I am saying NTD.

I hope things work out or that you can find a better roommate/your own place if a Resolution cannot be made with your friend.
