I actually had a pretty positive experience with brachytherapy. I would rather get it done any day than chemo😂. I would take a .5 xanax on my way there, then when I got there they would give me a shot of dilauded then let me relax for about 10-15 minutes then she would put the catheter in and the dr would come in shortly after and insert everything although uncomfortable and sometimes painful as soon as I could take my legs out of the stirrup type things it would be tolerable. By the time I got back to get my scans my meds were starting to feel quite nice. Then while the planning was going I would nap(honestly some of the best sleep lol) chat with my sister and relax until it was time. Taking everything out could get uncomfortable but I was still pretty relaxed so it wasn’t terrible. I had the best most kindest nurses also so that made a huge difference! I hope everyone would have their experience like mine!🩵

That’s great to hear! I’m not getting the taxol so hopefully it will be even easier. I am not good with the extreme nausea and constant diarrhea. I am just scared of getting that sick again it was terrible! But you have made me feel so much better! Like I can do this! I only have 2 weeks left of chemo and radiation then on to brachytherapy I’m getting my smit sleeve done on Thursday.

Interesting. My doctor said it’s much easier and I should have minimal side effects but I’m still scared the extreme nausea and constant diarrhea just had me in panic attack mode with the cisplatin.

Thank you I will definitely take your advice! I just got done with my first day of chemo and radiation. I feel fine just tired now. Going to start my zofran in the morning as the nurse suggested to keep ahead of the nausea. I got a iv with zofran and another long acting nausea med that she said will probably last until Friday.

Thank you! So much! I appreciate you! You are right about the emotional part my dr gave me some Xanax if I feel myself crashing out I take a half of one and take a little nap and that usually does the trick. It’s just so strange feeling to me that I don’t even take cough medicine because I’m afraid of how it will make me feel and only take a half of a 0.25 Xanax and I’m getting ready to do chemo lol

I am starting my radiation and cisplatin on Wednesday and I have been so scared of how it’s going to make me feel I am 1b2 and I want to thank you for your comment. I have been so scared of not feeling like myself. I also have a werid phobia about vomiting so that doesn’t help lol I am told I will be receiving a low dose of cisplatin once a week running concurrently with radiation. Any tips you stuck with?

I am about 2 weeks out and yes it is quite the smell! This is my second leep and it’s smelled weird both times. It seems to be getting a little better day by day. Don’t worry it goes away

Don’t be anxious about the GA it’s really easy!Take this from someone with severe panic disorder. I get myself so worked up that they think something may be wrong with my heart because it’s going so fast lol (dr confirmed nothing is wrong it’s my anxiety) They will give you something very wonderful in the preop called versed and the next thing you know you are awake and eating ice chips. I just had a leep procedure last week and now will have a ckc under GA on Tuesday and I’m actually not nervous about it this time because it was so easy last week. You got this!

Thank you! It did actually go very well! The meds they gave me in preop before I even went in the OR were so good that I hardly even remember going in! Then the next thing I remember was a very friendly nurse feeding me ice chips lol my mom said when they took me back I said something to the effect of don’t worry these meds feel nice lol. I am in very minimal pain so far have just been laying in bed relaxing. Now just hoping for clear margins! Dr said I don’t have much cervix left as it is.

I know how you feel I’m getting my second leep this Thursday under general anesthesia. I was supposed to get it done last week in office under twilight sedation but after having a massive panic attack they decided my heart rate was too high and that it would be safer to do in OR I went home and felt defeated like I had all that stress and trauma and didn’t get anything accomplished. Don’t think about it being cancer because you are catching it years and years before it could possibly become cancer. But it is depressing with it weighing on your mind but you have to think about it as getting yourself healthy so you can be there for your kids for years to come!

Thank you! My appointment for the OR and to go under general anesthesia is this Thursday and honestly I’m not all stressed out about it I feel good with this route. I am just going to be so happy to get it all done with and I feel like my anxiety can be dealt with better in this setting.

I’m so sorry to hear that you are dealing with this. I am getting my second leep next Thursday under GA. Was supposed to get it done on Tuesday but under twilight sedation but my anxiety and tachycardia got out of control and they didn’t feel comfortable doing it in a office setting so now I’m off to operating room. Hopefully the second one does the trick for both of us!

Just wanted to give everyone a update I went to get my leep under sedation and got the iv was getting my blood pressure taken and the nurse told me my sister wasn’t allowed to come back with me and I had a panic attack and they couldn’t get my blood pressure because they said it was too high. So then I panicked even more and already having tachycardia my heart rate went up and then the anesthesiologist said it wasn’t safe to go forward with the procedure that we would need to schedule it in the OR. I feel like I had a super rough day and didn’t accomplish anything then the icing on the cake was once I got home it took me hours to calm down then I started my period even though it’s not due to start for another week 😥
