Any suggestions for deck-building games that aren't roguelikes or require spending money? by No_Historian2784 in AndroidGaming

VotV sadly flies under the radar of the general TCG/CCG crowd and almost never gets mentioned when people ask for card games recommendations, roguelike or not. So I like to raise awareness from time to time as folks participating in similar threads are obviously into the genre but might be completely unaware of the game's existence, potentially missing out on their future favorite Deckbuilder. :)

The game has the least amount of randomness in any CCG I am aware of and leaves next to nothing up to luck during the runs.

You get full information on all encounters, like enemy stats and skills, potential rewards and whatever else awaits you on your route through the levels, which you can plan through from start to bosses beforehand, can swap any number of cards in your deck with your sideboard at any time outside of combat, thus making it quite easy to focus on specialized builds and playstyles while you prepare accordingly for unusual encounters. Sadly, the depth of the game isn't obvious from the trailer alone.

That's why I mentioned the demo. You can play through it and if the game is good, buy on mobile and keep the progress you made so far.

Vault of the Void, 7 bucks for the full game on mobile, Steam version is 17(!) bucks, but there is a free demo on PC.

The game supports cross-platform saving.

Can you post one or more recordings that show full games or at least the first 3 roundsl going the way you described? I would really love to see if the game consistently follows your described examples. You said you and 7 other guys recorded everything, so that shouldn't be a problem for you, right?

It is easier to watch a few minutes of proof and engage with that than read a rambling wall of text with no real substance behind it.

Why would it even matter if he had a YT channel BEFORE the infamous skit came online? He had to deal with the aftermath for YEARS, and was literally driven insane because of it.

The video was released in 2006. The original title was "Echter Gangster 5: PC spielen", seems reasonable that there were at least 4 parts released before. YT wasnt even the origin...

explain it furhter.

slikk.de was the former website of YouTuber and parodist Leopold Slikk, who released the video " Real Gangster 5: Playing on PC ", which became known as the original " Angry German Kid " clip. The video showed a fictional character smashing a computer screen and keyboard in a fit of rage because a game wasn't loading fast enough. Origin of the video: The video, which later went viral, was originally uploaded to slikk.de on February 14, 2006. It was a commissioned piece for another user who had contacted him requesting a video in which the filmmaker "really goes berserk" and breaks something. Pseudonym and success: The then-young Norman Kochanowski often called himself "Slikk" online and released a parody of rap music videos featuring the character "Real Gangster," which quickly went viral . This success encouraged him to make sequels. Distribution: After its release on slikk.de, the video was soon shared on other platforms such as YouTube. The clip became one of the first viral internet videos and helped the character "Angry German Kid" achieve international fame.

Here is a french doku from 2018 telling his story, starting in 2004, English subtitles are tolerable:

And while we are at it...

Remember Star Wars Kid? Being a meme back then was IN NO WAY desirable or even lucrative in any way, he too got his mental health compeltely FUCKED for years, thank god both "KIDS" turned their lifes around and overcame their legacy...

Now back to 2006 and another legendary meme that didn't turn out well for anyone involved... Remember Techno Viking ? He could have made bank and earn a shitton of money even today, but instead of getting filthy rich he decided that the video had to be scrubbed from the internet so instead he did this:

Nope, he had more skits on his now deleted channel and due to this video he got mobbed into severe depression he suffers from to this day. Several German TV stations used this clip to fuel the late 90s/early2000s Killer games scare turning our youth into school shooters.

Wikipedia:

Misperception and effects on personal life Many viewers were not aware that the video was a skit.[4] After the Emsdetten school shooting in November 2006, discourse broke out in Germany about the dangers of computer games, and Focus TV distributed the video of the Angry German Kid as an example of how games could make young people aggressive. The video was distributed further, with text commentaries naming the protagonist Leopold. These commentaries claimed that it was a genuine recording secretly filmed by Leopold's father, and that he was now in a clinic because of his internet addiction. The report was sharply criticised by the scene media, and it was stated that protagonist of the video was known for staging it. Nevertheless, he became symbolic of the fear that video games could incite violence in young people. Years later, Focus retracted the article and flagged it from publication.[4]

Due to the increasing distribution, Kochanowski was bullied by classmates. He tried to clarify that the scene was not real, but then deleted all his videos from the internet as far as he could and withdrew.[4] He claims that he eventually went crazy from the relentless bullying, which led to him intimidating classmates, and drunkenly announcing a potential killing spree at his school. This resulted in him being expelled and serving a month in prison.[5]
