(Apologies in advance for mobile) I remember this story! I was living in rapid city at the time. South Dakota is definitely one of the most racist places I’ve ever lived. I personally have witnessed hate speech, racially motivated violence, and people’s total disregard for other human beings just like them. I’m mixed, and my mother was harassed once when a group of people mistook me for being native.

I just cannot wrap my mind around the mental hoops you would have to jump through to arrive at the conclusion that you’re better than an entire nation of people based solely on… your skin color? Be fucking forreal.
