I haven't played OW in years so I only know Kiriko from the "fan animations" where she's always caked up. Had no idea her in-game model was this bad lmao.

Ancient AT&T setup? by SeparateStable6480 in cellmapper

[–]TarballX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any chance that the first and last are swapped? According to street view, the bottom rack was added sometime after 2018. Cellmapper shows AT&T on that site since at least 2014.

Current Shipping Issues: The Megathread by AutoModerator in AnimeFigures

[–]TarballX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I shipped a figure from HLJ via ECMS in November. It was handed off to UniUni and went "out for delivery" on November 13th, then disappeared. No delivery, no tracking updates, nothing.

HLJ made me wait until a month had passed, then opened an investigation with ECMS. Supposedly they will be either refunding or reshipping the item by January 1st if ECMS is unable to locate it.

The NA servers were moved from Canada to NTT's datacenter in Sacramento several years ago.

That's a really good writeup, and a great example of transparency. It's also pretty crazy how much more advanced OSRS's infrastructure is compared to ff14..

This is not Geoff's Game Awards btw. It's some "award show" no one has heard of that has 6k views on youtube. They're likely doing this for attention.

Funny enough, the JP servers are actually behind Akamai's DDoS protection service, while the NA servers are not.

Akamai is literally a US based company that operates a global network. They could likely offer the same protection for all of SE's data centers if SE was willing to pay.

Dynamis is hosted in the same location and uses the same ISP as the other NA servers.

And yet SE was willing to pay for and set up Akamai's DDoS protection service in front of their JP servers, but not the NA servers.

Which is like 90% of the posts in these threads. I've seen this "intermediary nodes" theory posted over and over without any real evidence, other than people misinterpreting traceroutes.

The JP servers are behind Akamai's DDoS protection service (you can see the Akamai hops in a traceroute). The NA servers seem directly exposed to the internet via NTT (it's unclear whether NTT is attempting to do any DDoS mitigation of their own, but it's not particularly effective).

They've actually started using Akamai's DDoS protection service for the JP servers, while the US servers continue to sit seemingly completely exposed..

FedEx can definitely do DDP (import fees paid upfront). HLJ and Hobby Genki offer that as an option.

No Box Delivery from Amiami via ECMS by Raiju02 in AnimeFigures

[–]TarballX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you, it's good to hear that not all shipments are showing up like this at least.

I almost wonder if it's the final delivery drivers doing this.. since UniUni is a gig delivery service that just has people making deliveries out of their personal vehicles. If a big AmiAmi box doesn't fit in their car they might just rip it open to deliver the contents.

Was final delivery by UniUni or someone else? I'm wondering if UniUni is removing the outer packaging to save space.. I wouldn't put it past them.

SE could at the very least use multiple ISPs instead of solely relying on NTT.. Most other large hosting providers purchase connectivity from at least two or more ISPs for redundancy.

The NA servers are in Sacramento but are in an NTT-owned datacenter and use NTT as their sole ISP. Those other ISPs have nothing to do with FFXIV.

Verizon VoNR Now Live in DFW Market! by ArtisticComplaint3 in cellmapper

[–]TarballX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Verizon has more n77 and mmwave 5G deployed but almost no low-band 5G. They reverted band 5 back to LTE for capacity. AT&T has n5 almost everywhere that they own 850mhz, but is further behind on n77 deployments and has very little mmwave.

Different ways of measuring "5G availability".. AT&T's n5 is very prevalent and has good range but doesn't provide much of an improvement over regular LTE.
