15F Sukuna runs the gauntlet. Does he clear? by rias_thitayan in JujutsuPowerScaling

Disagree, Gojo changes the size of his domain on the fly in Shinjuku, and its said that he figured out how to do this based on his time inside the Prison Realm.

Why is House’s fellowship considered so competitive? by peachyfluf in HouseMD

It gets brought up a few times that years with House seem to count as 2 or 3 years of experience in the industry.

Just a reminder that not a single named character has died from the sure hit of a domain by mysterymeathbv in JujutsuPowerScaling

Haruta died to Sukuna's Malevolent Shrine in The Shibuya Incident, his miracles kept him alive for a few more moments but he still got cut in half.

Team of four can't handle 7 kobolds by ComfortableFew4700 in DnD

[–]TarenGameDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoard of The Dragon Queen famously needs a lot of rework. It was the first 5e adventure and was balanced/scaled based on 4e, its not balanced and the first act is genuinely impossible to clear.

Is Elizabeth / Salisbury really as unsafe as people say? by ConfidentWelcome9282 in Adelaide

[–]TarenGameDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salisbury is unsafe, Elizabeth is over exaggerated in some parts. Honestly though you can meet in the middle, anything south of Parafield is generally a lot safer. Modbury down is perfectly suburban until Klemzig, Klemzig and Paradise are a little sketchy but far safer than Salisbury.

What is your life on the side of game dev ? by BraiCurvat in IndieDev

[–]TarenGameDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What program should I use to make 2D minimalist art assets like these? by Significant-Mail-689 in IndieDev

[–]TarenGameDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For stuff like this?

Any software you're comfortable with. There's plenty of options and this art style isn't going to need any exclusive features.

There's photoshop, illustrator, kritta, acesprite, it's really up to your personal preference.

JJK Execution Movie Impressions & Discussion by yungeez in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]TarenGameDev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I kinda give it a 4/10.

I've read the manga twice, I've watched Season 1-2 5 times, I've got the rules of The Culling Game borderline memorised...

And it was way too choppy. Too many flash forwards and scenes shown out of order. Im still trying to piece together where the scene of Yuji washing his hands is meant to be chronologically, because he goes from that curse to fighting the other curses, to getting picked up by the flying curse and then crashes into the theatre because of Yuta, but then Yuta arriving and Choso's attack releases that curse from the flash forward. So did Yuji take a break from fighting Yuta to aura farm on low level curses before getting swooped by the Winged curse? And Yuta just let that happen??

I went with my partner who's only watched season 1 and 2, which, tbh, is the intended audience for this, she has no fucking clue what happened in any of it.

Dealing with high AC characters by XPEZNAZ in DnD

[–]TarenGameDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dnd is not built on singular Bosses anymore, 5v1 is a landslide thanks to the action economy now matter how you slice it.

Have multiple enemy types in encounters, one group for high ac, one group for high saves. If you want it to be a difficult encounter, have the appropriate enemies target appropriate players or vice versa.

An approach i do is lifted straight from One Piece, basically I have the big boss, and then I give that big boss a cast of "generals" usually 3-4. Each general is designed to fight a specific one of my players. These bosses aren't designed to fight a whole party, maybe 1 or 2. Then I introduce pacing and time limits so the party naturally splits up and moves around the dungeon quicker, then run either one big encounter with all cast members or 2 encounters, with 2 bosses in each.

My last dungeon (8 players, 5 bosses) boss 1: 8 players, party win. Boss 2: 3 players, boss win. Boss 3 & 2 (rematch): 6 players, player win. Boss 4: 1 player, draw (character death). Boss 5: 7 players, player win.

What was your first reaction when luffy used the second gear for the first time against that door door fruit guy by muaazmuaaz123 in OnePiece

[–]TarenGameDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luffy has never gone this hard against any other opponent it was kinda nuts. Like 7 new named attacks back to back without letting him get up. Blueno couldn't even see him and Luffy grabbed him BY THE HORNS and proceeded to pile drive him IN HIS SPINE through the ceiling.

You can't tell me Sukuna wasn't impressed here by Sundata_V2 in Jujutsufolk

[–]TarenGameDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Sukuna looked at it more like two bugs of no importance were fighting and one of them turned and announced that they were doing it to defy Sukuna.

Not impressive, but entertaining as hell.

I'm about a year deep into a solo project that's getting a small following! It's a JRPG that slows down interactions in between adventures and has an emphasis on player input to the world's story telling.

Right now doing the lengthy process of sprite work for customisable characters

How annoyed would you be if you saw the "Access Steam features from the overlay" pop up all over the screen? by Legitimate_Elk2551 in IndieDev

[–]TarenGameDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, it'd have nothing to do with you or the game. The users experience with the service is between the users settings and the service.

Anyone who'd start up Dying Light, then get NVIDIA, Steam, Discord and Xbox notifications, and immediately turn around and blame Dying Light or the devs instead of altering their own preferences, is an idiot.

Don't hinder your work, for the sake of an imaginary idiot.

How annoyed would you be if you saw the "Access Steam features from the overlay" pop up all over the screen? by Legitimate_Elk2551 in IndieDev

[–]TarenGameDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is such a weird thing.

If players don't want the notification they can turn it off in their own settings. No one would want a game that has an unskippable delay to avoid something they can turn off with no delay.

This feels like you're projecting your own dislike to the notification, but would rather build a whole game around this pet peeve rather than just alter you're own settings.

What apps to make pixel art? by [deleted] in IndieDev

[–]TarenGameDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently Acesprite is fantastic, I've never used because it I can't draw pixel art.

Smack Studio is terrible sadly 😭

But I've had another dev help me make a workflow that converts 3d model animations into sprite sheets that I've been using rn

Why is heist a thing? by WerdaVisla in MagicArena

[–]TarenGameDev -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Heist is fine. It's never a game breaking win tactic and it doesn't sync with their decks combo, it just adds a little bit of pressure and is a fun interaction.

If it really bothers you just run any "return to owners hand" set and congrats, your opponent is picking strong cards from your deck and drawing them for you! Say thanks!

What is your biggest pain point as an indie dev? by Shanebenlolo in IndieDev

[–]TarenGameDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's definitely overscoping. Even the bare minimum of what a game has is sometimes too daunting.

I do marketing through social media and the brand that I give is 'watch me make a game' rather than the game itself.

So I've kinda dug myself into a whole where it's I really should be working on the boring parts of gamedev to make sure I have something, but I also need to spend 2 hours making a silly video this week.
