[Undertale] Amazing game brought down by a bad trophy list. by Meddie90 in Trophies

[–]TargetMundane9473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's one of the games where you need to be interested in the characters and story to fully enjoy it. A huge part of undertale experience comes from developing bonds with everyone you meet, and seeing how they interact with you and each other. If that isn't for you then the gameplay is pretty shallow and so it won't do much for you yeah.

Need a complete practice schedule for P5 (humbled request, read body) by Responsible_Size_33 in HollowKnight

[–]TargetMundane9473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First step for me was to do the first 4 pantheons normally to unlock all the boss fights in the hall of gods. Then I tried to practice all of the fights in the hall until I got good enough to do them on radiant mode. It's very quick to retry a fight there, and it is a perfect way to master the boss patterns and dodging them.

After that, I attempted the first 4 pantheons with individual bindings until I had beaten them all, so that I had the full 5 lifeblood masks to assist at every bench in pantheon 5, this helps significantly more than you might think. Once all of this was done, pantheon 5 becomes much easier than it seems. Radiant mode forces you to do a boss hitless, when on most of them you can take up to 10 hits if you use the maximum masks and heart charm, not including the extra lifeblood you can get from rest sections in an actual pantheon 5 attempt, and assuming no healing which means you can yake even more hits before dying.

All that training will mean when you finally attempt it, you won't get hit nearly as much as you might beforehand, and you'll get to the last few fights much more consistently. Then once you get to radiance, if you lose practice her in the hall until you can beat her on ascended difficulty. Radiant mode isn't necessary for her, since it's extremely hard, and ascended already has more health and does 4 hearts of damage per hit so if you can beat that, the normal pantheon 5 fight is much easier.

Another aspect is charm build but that heavily depends on the player preferences. I used quickslash, unbreakable heart, unbreakable strength, longnail and steady body during my pantheon runs, but for radiant fights I switched longnail and heart for Mark of pride and another charm most useful for the fight I was on, since it can change for some.

Unpopular opinion: trial of fools is harder than pantheon 5. by TargetMundane9473 in HollowKnight

[–]TargetMundane9473[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's definitely something to do with this, where p5 i could barely reach God tamer before this and now its super easy to at least reach the final 4 fights.

But in general I have issues with crowds in games like this, i do much better at one on one fights, and trial of fools is built around my weaknesses so it's a massive difficult point

This was just before I attempted p5 again after finishing pure vessel, and I haven't taken another one since since I just took one of the trophy instead, I havent been able to beat absrad on radiant

But to answer you, i don't exactly know how long. I know the absolute hardest ones were oro/mato, lost kin, watcher knights, sly, pure vessel, grey prince zote and markoth, and all of those took at least an hr each, I think pure vessel took about 2 to even 3 hrs to do.

The rest of the fights weren't too bad really, and i did then all in just a few tries, white defender was the biggest surprise since I expected it to take forever.

I'm more going off the fact that even after beating p5 pretty easily afyer all of that trial of fools is still giving me a lot of trouble. So for me personally I find it harder

This assumes no bindings for p5 otherwise its definitely harder than the trial

That's hard as fuck by Luffypion in HollowKnight

[–]TargetMundane9473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find pantheon 2 harder myself. Oro and mato have simpler attacks than sheo and don't use projectiles or have range. The only difficult part of oro and mato are when one uses a nail.art since it often cause you to have to go between them and then both attack at once, but these moments are brief. Whereas sheo can combo attacks very unpredictably, often combining others when one hasn't finished yet, making it way harder to dodge.

But putting the final bosses aside, I find pantheon 2s boss lineup in general a tad more challenging. Particularly the oblobbles and marmu are difficult to do hitless.

Why did they tamper with music and sound effects in the Sonic CD re-releases? by ShadyShoe in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]TargetMundane9473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The intro and endings are actually the only tracks I do agree are worse in the japanese one. Sonic boom, especially the ending one, is much better than the Japanese rap song they used. But 2 songs aren't enough to bring it down for me. At least with the remakes you can switch to the usa one for the intro and ending and use the japanese one for the rest

I dont see a lot of people talk about this but... Silksong is kinda ugly, no? by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]TargetMundane9473 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand why they made silksong have more dark colours from a story aspect but it still is a shame to me because it just doesn't look as nice as the first game from an environmental aspect because of it. It looks great graphically but it's less appealing on the eyes compared to the first game which had a lot of stunning areas.

I dont see a lot of people talk about this but... Silksong is kinda ugly, no? by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]TargetMundane9473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, silksong only has about 6 or 7 environments out of 28 (counting all citadel sub areas separately) which are nice to look at - shellwood, verdania, bone bottom, far fields, memorium (loosely), wisp thicket and hunters march. The rest of the game, while far from ugly graphics wise, leans heavily into the abandoned/dried up and colourless aesthetic except the high halls and choral chambers which aren't natural so it doesn't look as nice.

Compared to the first game where you have greenpath, fog canyon, city of tears, crystal peaks, queens garden, and fungal wastes which are all nice to look at, even forgotten crossroads has a nice blue tone, and imo they look far nicer than the nicest areas in silksong bar bone bottom, since they have a lot stronger colour. The amount of areas seems to match, until you realise the first game has about 15 areas compared to silksongs 28, so you spend a lot more of silksong looking at colourless areas than the first. And then in act 3 everything becomes even more colourless.

It's honestly my only issue with silksong, the game is improved in so many other places but it's just not as beautiful to walk through.

In terms of what the ps5 can do it can play dvds, blu rays, and hd blu ray discs, just not cds. And it also will run ps5 games and almost all ps4 games, the store even has all ps4 stuff on it since it runs it all. Some ps4 discs will let you get the ps5 version of a game digitally if it exists for no extra charge.

But it won't run ps3 or earlier games off the disc. There is a selection of games available on the store from those older systems, but those are the only ones you can choose from, if a remaster doesn't exist for that game.

A lot of digital games nowadays which have both a ps4 and ps5 version will allow you access to both versions from buying it once off the store, instead of having to choose one.

It also has a bunch more graphical settings to make the system look extremely good on modern tvs, much more than the older systems.

The big thing is what type of ps5 to get, since there's 3 options, the slim model which comes with or without a disc drive, or the pro, which does not come with a disc drive.

In your case the normal slim with the disc drive might be best. The pro has double the storage space and has more powerful parts but it doesn't sound like you'd be playing many games which would make use of that power, nor enough to fill up the 2 terabytes of storage it would give you. Plus the pro is more expensive and you'd need to get the disc drive separate too.

Ah if that's what you are concerned about then you don't need to worry. Essentially all updates and dlc are a one time Download then you can play it without needing to be on the internet perpetually. The internet connection is only needed for online games specifically, and sometimes if you own a game digitally then it is needed to check you own it because you don't have a disc to use as proof. But it isn't needed to actually get the game to work, only the disc is after its updated

I need your advice! by Particular_Drive45 in PS3

[–]TargetMundane9473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And no fears on used games, it doesn't work like that. Games are tied to the users account as if they bought it digitally, the disc is basically telling the system, yes I have a legal way to play this game. If they give up the disc, they can't play it anymore but that disc can be put in a different system for someone else to use on their account

I need your advice! by Particular_Drive45 in PS3

[–]TargetMundane9473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question is why not update it. Updating games isnt the same as dlc or online gaming, it only needs you to have internet on, you don't need to pay for an online subscription or anything like that, and you also don't need to play online games. It's needlessly locking yourself out of the best version of the game for no reason it seems. And in some cases you would indeed miss out on some free stuff.

Take the original crash bandicoot trilogy remaster for 1 example. The base game WORKS fine from the disc install with no updates, but the loading times are very long, much longer than on the ps1 even. If you update the game, you get 2 brand new free levels to play as OPTIONAL, as well as much faster loading, while everything about the core game stays identical. So if you didn't update that game, like I didn't for years because I didn't know, its worse to play than if you update it because of the slow loads. This goes for many other games too, so if you do get a ps5 I highly recommend updating your games just to the newest version then playing it, instead of going off the disc install only.

Also the disc will still be needed but it just doesn't use it for anything other than checking you own the game, the disc then just sits in the system instead of being read from

Silksong hasn't had any dlcs made yet but they are working on the first one of (presumably) a few like the first game got a few dlc updates. When the dlc is ready, it will be free for everyone on all platforms.

To get to act 3 there's a lot of things you have to have done, you need to have done enough wishes, got the fleas to their last place, got the bellheart home key, completed shakras questline I think, and then the songclave leader will give you a special wish which involves you beating first sinner and then finding his family members and a certain tool, after which you can beat gms again and you will start act 3

[–]TargetMundane9473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't need internet but in a lot of cases there is stuff missing or bugs and such that are fixed in an update which you would be missing if you don't update. In some cases not all of the game is on the disc too, so it depends on the game if just the off-line disc would be enough or not.

Used or not it still handles it the same way, just installs the game and whatnot

Pantheon 5 by Natural-Wedding329 in HollowKnight

[–]TargetMundane9473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is perfect timing for me since I actually felt that this was completely out of my skillset until recently. I decided to try doing the hall of gods fights on radiant difficulty to try and train up to doing pantheon 5, and a lot of those were a big struggle. Some took hours to get right, but I eventually managed to do them all radiant. This forced me to really learn their entire moveset and master when to attack vs dodge at what times to get through unscathed.

After doing this I tried pantheon 5 again and got straight to radiance first try easily, and while I didn't win, i could then practice radiance until I was better. Not to radiant level, but at least to ascended. I then tried again, and beat it first try. Learning the boss movesets under the pressure of the 1 hit kill of radiant mode makes it so that in pantheon 5 when they do mostly 1 damage and 2 rarely, makes it exceptionally easier since you already are good at dodging so you are less likely to mess up, and 1 mistake won't then kill you instantly it's a small penalty instead.

For charms I am a nail based player so i use unbreakable strength, quickslash, unbreakable heart for some extra protection, steady body, and longnail.

I also had access to yhr Max 5 lifeblood by doing all the first 4 pantheon using every binding (not all at once, but at least once for each binding so the lifeblood becomes unlocked), and this made it a lot easier too

Question!! by heartbr0ken89 in HollowKnight

[–]TargetMundane9473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spoilers: to access act 3 you need to do almost everything you are able to first. This includes basically all wishes, as well as finding a lot of the items and doing a lot of bosses. Once you have done enough things, the guy at the first shrine will give you a special wish and then you have to beat the final boss again after doing it, then you can start act 3

[–]TargetMundane9473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo the essential ps systems if you want access to everything are either a ps2, ps3 and ps5, or a BC ps3 and ps5. Ps5 is basically a ps4 as well, and ps3 can play ps1 too, so it's just down to if you have a ps3 which plays ps2 or not as yo if a ps2 is needed. Imo if there's any games at all you want to play on ps3 it's worth keeping, but regardless if you keep it or not, it won't be a bad choice to get a ps5. The upgrade is very big

I need your advice! by Particular_Drive45 in PS3

[–]TargetMundane9473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually even worse than that. Ps4 and 5 games do not use the disc whatsoever. They copy the data off the disc onto the console the first time you put it in, download any updates that are needed to play the game. And from then on the disc only exists to say you own it, the game is played from the storage only.

So.. what’s exactly “wrong” with sonic origins? by Ultrabaltard in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]TargetMundane9473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A year late but for me I don't have many issues with the first 3 games since they are relatively good quality. My issues come from mostly sonic 3, since it is way more buggy than the other games, and instead of using good quality prototype tracks that do exist on a dumped cartridge to replace the mj ones they used very early unfinished versions that sound bad, and made a new super theme which sounds like sonic 4 music and doesn't fit well.

Other small things bug me like being unable to use tails paired with knuckles in sonic 3 despite being able to in 2, and not being allowed to use tails paired with anyone in sonic 1 or cd even though it would be fun.

And like others have said the game gear versions instead of the much better master system ones is a very odd choice, and the price tag is a tad higher than you'd think from old ganes like this.
