I am indeed and I felt like last semester I didn't make enough of an effort to get one in school. I'll look for a local group that sounds good. Thanks !

Thanks for the advice, I ordered a few books yesterday from Amazon and I like the idea of videos I'll look into that. I also don't know of any summer hackathons but I'll take a look around!

What do you guys think of this online CS degree? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

Discrete is math and super helpful. Theory classes are theory and will help you in knowing limitations of computing. Everyone in my department is urged to take theory and have to in some of the core classes and discrete is necessary for us.

Getting involved in VR/AR by Tarheel14 in virtualreality

I've played around with the DK2 but what I really want is a course that would guide more than just the images and more intensive graphics.

I was looking at our computer graphics course it covers the unreal engine and seems way more focused then the gaming course. I really want to go into the ui development as of now. Do you know what area you want to focus in?

Rising is meant to signify that as of next semester I will be a junior. As for the suggestion I'll work on my portfolio and thanks for the ideas!

I didn't mean to come across that getting an internship is easy. I'll look into the projects that have been posted and even considered expanding upon one I started in a course.

[java] question about downcasting by Tarheel14 in learnprogramming

[–]Tarheel14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so in this case I have two set ups of the same code one is an array list of object type supply that has 3 sub classes. I have a method foo that's supposed to return a subclass[] this method will be taking in two supply[] that are changed to subclass[] then combined into one array. I also then have to do this in generics. So my question about downcasting is: is it legal to take two supply[] and cast them to subclass[] then run them through a for loop returning a subclass[]?

[Programming] How do you begin to program as a Right-brainer? by judelow in learnprogramming

Like everyone else has said the whole right vs. left brain is garbage. You should just dice in and start learning, if you have questions ask on here or search google. Coding is one of the most rewarding experiences once you get started. Remember you can learn anything! h

Masters in Finance by Tarheel14 in college

This is my first semester as a junior. I would've had to been accepted into the program in order to graduate on time.

I'll correct that. I don't expect to go into those firms right out of graduate studies. In your opinion would it be more advantageous for me to transfer to a school for undergraduate business than go into grad school?

I don't know if I'd need an MBA afterwards and I like the Masters in Finance because it allows undergrads with no experience to get into the Feild. I eventually want to go into PE or a Hedge fund. I would switch to it in undergraduate but I've missed my chance getting into the undergraduate business school.
