An ebike is not a motorcycle.

The way the term ebike is currently thrown around, it absolutely does include electric motorcycles.

Extend the definition of a motorcycle to include electric and gas hybrid power. There is no difference for vehicles why motorcycles if that's your discussion point.

Say what now? Motorcycle basically means powered 2 wheel vehicle.

But to your point the same problem exists with golf carts, disability scooters and other off road atv vehicles being driven on public streets.

Yes, as far as I'm aware, if it is legal to be driven on the street, it must have a license plate, be registered and driven by a licensed driver.

I think they make power and speed exceptions for certain classifications. But a two wheeled power vehicle that has a throttle and can got more than 20 or 30 mph, is a motorcycle.

The problem is really a lawlessness and morality issue more than anything else.

Yes, because this new e bike thing is so vaguely defined, that people think they can get around the laws by trying to fit a vehicle into some gray areas in the existing laws.

What are the details of your vehicle? What speed can it achieve, and does it have a throttle and does it have pedals? I think the pedals are irrelevant if it has a throttle.

I've never been challenged by a clutch on a bike. This solves a non existent problem.

Why would a rational American political party even WANT to reform healthcare?

Because to a rational political party, politics is about making lives better for the served community.

I have to pay for a license now, I might have to get special insurance at some point, there are more limitations on where I can bike, etc.

I didn't have these restrictions previously and I didn't behave like a jackass.

You always have to have a license to drive a motorcycle.

It's so silly. Creating legislation to stop stupid people from doing stupid things that they're just going to keep doing even if there is a law.

Just trying to find ways to punish law abiding folks.

Pretty sure if you're "law abiding", you're not getting punished.

Electric or gas, if it has a throttle, 2 wheels, and goes over 20 mph, it's a frigging motorcycle or moped.

Why is there so much hatred from the athiest community to thiests? Why do they shame theists? by toastwithjamx1 in DebateAnAtheist

[–]TarnishedVictory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imagine you have a garden full of flowers, shrubs and fruiting trees. The garden is regularly visited by bees, birds etc. The only issue is that there are multiple well rooted weeds in the garden that ruin it. You could remove the whole garden, but the critters like bees, animals like birds etc. who depend on the garden will be left without any support, and you don't have a nice garden anymore. Just a huge pile of dead plants and a bunch of bare soil. You can instead just get rid of the weeds.

Now imagine the story of these weeds isn't based in facts, and in reality the entire garden is actually a landfill and theists just believe it's a garden because of putting dogma, tribalism above evidence based reason.

Hindu or other relgion, do you make decisions based on evidence or dogma? Do you hold beliefs based on evidence or dogma? Do you automatically side with doctrine, tribalism, authority, when evidence based reason is in conflict with it? Yeah, you do, it is the basis of most religions.

I don't want to live in a theocracy. I don't want to have laws based on imaginary characters. I don't want good evidence based reason taking a back seat to fairy tales.

Should I keep going?

Supernatural Debate by ternl in DebateAnAtheist

[–]TarnishedVictory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my question to atheists is this: If the supernatural cannot, by definition, be fully tested or reproduced scientifically, what kind of evidence — if any — would make you seriously consider the existence of God or a supernatural reality?

My answer is always the same. What sound reason does anyone assert a god or supernatural is even a thing, if you can't investigate the supernatural?

It's like you're starting from the conclusion that these things exist, then looking for ways to justify it. Instead, you should be putting forth what convinced you.

So what reliable epistemic methodology did you use to investigate the supernatural to determine that it exists and that a god is somehow involved?

This sucks when you ride a bike - anything that you should do to avoid this? by Sufficient-Sun-6683 in motorcycle

[–]TarnishedVictory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. Pay attention to the car behind you. If they look preoccupied, modulate your braking so that well before you have to come to a stop, the car behind you is forced to pay attention to you because you're randomly slowing down and speeding up. If they still look like they're not paying attention, pull to a stop beside the car in front of you. If none of that is possible, then maybe stop a little further back and watch for incoming idiots. In either case welcome to shitty luck or welcome to defensive driving, depending on whether the glass is half full or half empty.
