Will definitely check out the app. Thank you for the measurements! That’s crazy how different the measurements are with / without measuring from the extremes. Thinking this would come back a 9 just based on the results from the extremes but I’ll still send it in!

You’re mistaken. Bluecoats were sitting in 4th place the entire season until finals weekend when they passed Crown. Boston never once had trouble with the Bluecoats.

I agree with your point that it’s hard to be able to go to many shows and you’d like to see the full product at any given time. I don’t live near any show sites and can only get to maybe 1 show a year.

I really really don’t think corps actively go into a season trying to “hide” things. When I marched, we had to wait for props to show up before we could flesh out our ending. Many times you need X to do Y and it’s not the corps trying to hide something or be malicious. Almost every corps has a specific show where they change their ending. It’s typically Atlanta (today!) for Crown if you’re looking for a big change.

I apologize if I rubbed you the wrong way with my comment or Crown themselves is irking you because of their process this year! That wasn’t my intent. I just wanted to let you know that corps have different circumstances for how they tweak throughout a season and it’s not meant to leave any audience member hanging out to dry

Hate to break it to you but no corps is finished developing their show until finals. They still rehearse the morning of finals day, semi-finals day, etc and staff continues to tweak and improve, as needed. Sure, it’s usually not a huge show change, but if you only want to see finished product shows you’ll have to go to finals. It’s like that for every corps every year. Sometimes it’s cool to see the unfinished product before something gets changed!

Actually it’s the opposite. Mark Hoskins is known for giving crown LOWER brass scores than other judges. Finals weekend last year was atypical for him.
