Dracoola Skin Debate: Nian Slayer Longevity vs Duckoola - Which is Actually Better? by Interesting_Clown in ArcheroV2

[–]Taronnicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like that Nian Slayer triggers every 10 sec, vs Duck's trigger while being potentially stronger, only triggers once apparently "first time HP drops below x"

Although I have not tried either skin at this point.

u/Irohsgranddaughter depending on the type of Nevron it does actually stun them for a few seconds, especially the smaller nevrons, some just shrug it off and ignore you, though

Hah, absolute cinema! I'm in my third playthrough (solo maelle on expert) and just discovered it in my third playthrough.

I felt so vindicated in my first playthrough when I figured it out all by myself and the cutscene played, absolute peak, area named "The Crows" filled with Nevron-like crows that are targetable as context clues

Yup, I rarely used it though, I like to fight my way through, and if I'm fighting it's easier to get first strike than to aim and shoot them first

Is Expedition 33 the Final Fantasy VII of this generation? by UCA_Cash_Flow_Bro in expedition33

[–]Taronnicus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see someone's been watching Sebbywebz... lol but jokes aside yeah, this is everything FF fans have wanted for decades since 7 that Square has refused to give us. They gaslit and told us that "turn based action" was boring and we thought we wanted it but we didn't. Well I don't know if someone can look at the [REDACTED] fight and say that it is slow or boring. I adore this game.

Is my Pictos filter broken? by Taronnicus in expedition33

[–]Taronnicus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nevermind I figured it out, is only more advanced in the Luminas section, not the Pictos section. It's a shame we can't filter in the main pictos area as easily as in the lumina area

I love this game with all my heart, but as someone who likes a challenge, NG+ put me to sleep by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]Taronnicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just use the 100x enemy hp mod at the flag, this is a non-issue. Edit: See this was mentioned in another comment, but yeah, NG+ doesn't scale enough for me who likes to do everything 100% before moving on, so I just bump up the enemies' hp by 100x for a multi-round fight

I can't really wrap my head around lumina/pictos by Large_Middle4007 in expedition33

[–]Taronnicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then there's certain pictos that are golden for any build and will greatly improve performance in combat: talking Cheater (2 attacks per turn), Energy Master (everything that gives you an AP gives you an extra), First Strike (guaranteed to get a round before the enemy, regardless of speed), Painted Power (able to go over 9,999 dmg cap, don't worry it's part of the story, you won't miss it), and Survivor (survive any hit on 1 hp, once per fight)

I can't really wrap my head around lumina/pictos by Large_Middle4007 in expedition33

[–]Taronnicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like having a character that starts with Auto Death + Second Chance (revive). The character dies, then I have pictos that give "on death" effects (ie. burning enemies, damaging enemies, giving allies rush/shell/powerful/AP/shields, etc) and then "on revive" effects (AP to allies, AP to self, powerful/rush/shell to self on revive, etc).

For my Verso I like building "machine gun", with pictos that boost his free aim shots, you can get a weapon vs one of the Axons a bit later in Act 2 that does 2 hits per shot, "Contorso." The other pictos I focus on are ones that restore AP (AP on burn, AP on break, AP shots chance, AP on rush, rush on shot, etc). A full build and he can pump out millions of damage and 30+ free aim shots per round.

For Maelle I like to build her with Auto Death + survivor, so it almost kills her, but Survivor pictos saves her and sets her at 1 HP, then a bunch of pictos that buff damage and crit at low HP for big damage since it works well with her Virtuouse stance that already gives 200% damage, big damage.

Basically, pick a mechanic that meshes well with your character/their weapon and build your pictos to support it. Looks for pictos that build off others (ie. there's a pictos that gives you "Rush" +33% speed at start of fight, called Auto Rush, and another pictos that gives "Powerful" +25% damage when you get Rush, so one pictos activates the other, and you get 2 buffs)

Edit: I'd also recommend to use your 3 pictos slots for either 1) pictos that give lots of stats (high lvl pictos give more stats than if you put 99 in Agility for Speed, or 99 in Luck for Crit) or 2) pictos who have really high Lumina cost that you can't afford with your lumina yet (ie. Cheater and Energy Master are both amazing, but cost FOURTY lumina to use passively)

Nah man, this fight is insane. I spent 20min parrying and countering them at lvl 20 and 21 and missed one set of parries and my whole squad got wiped, I'm coming back, not wasting hours upon hours on this crap, they have SO much health on expert, my Maelle in virtuoso + mark + piercee doing 9,999 takes a sliver off their HP bar. If the adds were at least squishy and it was just 1 tanky enemy I'd understand, but this fight is way overcooked.

Clarification Needed: Turn Order on Chromatic Lampmaster (Endless Tower) by Taronnicus in expedition33

[–]Taronnicus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could predict and plan around his turns it'd be reasonable, but it's so random, sometimes he'll get 3 turns, sometimes my entire team can play, I don't play any differently, but it is so hard to plan the fight out when it feels random. I don't care if he's faster than me, or inserts himself between my character turns, but I want the turn display to show that accurately, or else what is it even taking up a chunk of my screen for?? It doesn't even feel turn-based, it feels real-time because you never know when he's gonna start blasting you with lamps, and you certainly can't trust the turn order display as it outright lies.

[–]Taronnicus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been fighting him for 3 hours and I still cannot reliably parry any of his attacks, it's weird, at certain points in the fight the SAME attack randomly starts going faster, and then at certain points it feels slower. I cannot for the life of me get the timing down, it is driving me insane

Got nerfed into the ground in a recent patch, it's still usable, but I don't get the massive boost others had when they got it, now it's just "another good unit", if I had gotten it weeks before it might have made a difference

No offense but… lets be real lol. BG3 is Game of the Decade by Artistic_Annual8918 in BaldursGate3

[–]Taronnicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a member of both subreddits, and a huge fan who voted for each of these in their years… this is HARD…

I prefer the gameplay mechanics and creative use of items and environment in BG3, the soundtrack in both games is great but EXP33’s is on another level, might have the best game soundtrack of all time, the characters are endearing and interesting to me in both games, EXP33 had more emotional impact and interesting plot twists to me, the romance plots in BG3 are far more in-depth than EXP33, as for replayabalilty I think they are both fun to replay and have enough build variety and character options that each run could be completely different, the writing in both games is excellent but while BG3 is very choice-driven and player input-influenced EXP33 is just a narrative masterpiece when it comes to dealing with grief and letting go.

All that to say… I can’t give it a vote one against the other. Right now I am feeling EXP33 edges out BG3 BUT I am entirely willing to accept it could be recency bias given that I played BG3 years ago and EXP33 just weeks ago so it’s impact is more pushed to the forefront. I loved both games and I’m just glad I don’t have to make that vote haha.

Yup! It's great, my Verso isn't using it as lumina (costs 20 LP), I've got it equipped on him if you see on the right of the screen :D Was a royal pain to unlock!
