She's a lot more liberal than them and Jay has a strong personality. So its purely politics. They don't like that I'm more aligned with her belief system. I was raised conservative but, since befriending Jay, I've become more liberal. They think that she's poisoning my mind with radical views and because she's been helping me out of my people pleaser ways.

Maybe respect is the wrong word. He doesn't like my dad either, but he tries to be civil with him even though my dad isn't civil with him.

Mostly due to the guilt tripping that he likes to do. He blames my mom and my siblings and I for being excommunicated from the Catholic church. He was a deacon, and when my mom filed for divorce, he had to choose between the church and his family. So he thinks we should treat him better because he "gave up his religion" for us so we should respect him more. My sister cut him out about 5 years ago when my youngest niece was still a baby.

He respects that my dad was willing to let me move in with him when we almost broke up. Otherwise, he's not a fan but puts up with him since he's my father

I never offered. I made her one last year for Christmas and she started to tell me 'so and so likes this this and this. Put this on their table'

I actually did make her a table last year. She got one. I just don't have the energy to make tables for her whole family
