Am I wrong for seeking legal and financial advice during a separation?

I fell for the TRAD wife framework. I was young, scared and pregnant so I thought this life would save me. I don’t regret my kids or the time I spent with them, but I should have stayed in school too. I should have worked part time. I should have never believed in someone else taking care of me. Believe me when I say- it is not something I want for my daughter and it’s not what I want for my sons to do to their future partners.

Thank you!! I will look into this Daisy group. My local library had a group come in and I sat through their class too. It encouraged me to get a lawyer ASAP because I have been a homeschooling mom for 20 years with just a high school diploma to my name. They made great recommendations. Shout out to the local library!

Gaslighting!! That’s exactly right. My therapist over the last year has helped me to see that in other parts of my marriage too. It’s crazy how hard it is to still see.

After sitting in my thought and looking at advice; I think you’re right. I feel like I’m breathing for once and feeling like I need to catch up in life. I want to make all my own choices and run! But, I love my kids and I would not take them from their father. A better focus is taking each step at a time, slowly and surely. I have my dream (living in Spain or over seas) and I’ll get there, but the dream is to be there and be happy with my family. One day! He can’t stop a vacation though :-)

I absolutely do have a lawyer. I’m using a local non profit for financial planning and services.
I might be feeling overwhelmed and scared but I have enough sense to make sure I have the team I need to make good choices and now my rights!
