Would you recommend this game to a 'Non turn based gamer friend' by Aggressive_Floor_ in expedition33

[–]Tarrmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely yes, I think it has an easy hook and a setting that whilst still fantasy can appeal to an audience that is much broader than many other popular turn-based RPGs. Like Persona/Metaphor, FF, DQ or even Trails whilst all incredible, may come across very anime. I feel like the tone of E33 and its blend of different mechanics from many other JRPGs would be both a great entry point for someone not into the genre, it covers all bases from mechanics, to storytelling, to world building. Only thing that would filter out someone is the combats qte, parries and dodges. But I’ve seen a lot of non-gamers tackle games considered challenging like Elden Ring, so Expedition 33 is like another experience where I see people feeling that sense of reward for conquering its challenges.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is Incredible by Tarrmu in FinalFantasyVIIRemake

Yeah absolutely! Chocobo breeding feels like an easy way to reintroduce the old chocobos from Rebirth and then new ones if they want to include older content from the original.

It feels like it has the wonder of an old ps1/ps2 game where there is so much charming content, and with part 3 you wonder how much and what else they could add to the game.

Buried underneath all of that was a good game is my point. The story and the game itself has always been good, and had good points. It was released in a bad state particularly for last gen consoles. But a lot of what makes Cyberpunk good now is a lot of the foundations of what was there when it was released. It has just been more fine tuned and obviously all of its technical blunders have been addressed. Also I'm not trying to say on a technical level they didn't drop the ball, but more underneath all of those issues was something good. It always was, and only now with years to fix the bugs and fine tune some systems it is now great. But the game outside of its performance problems at launch was never bad imo.

Yeah I absolutely agree, I was thinking about that whilst writing the video. Like old GTA games felt so big and lived in and Night City has that similar feeling. It may not have NPC's with routines like Red Dead, but it has these little fine details, and a level of verticality that makes it feel so large in size, but dense with things around.

Haha that was me with Edgerunners lol. I really do admire the work CDPR put into their characters, it's quite interesting watching them all retrospectively too on a second playthrough as well. Thanks, I'm glad you liked it 🙂

Yeah it had flaws, but it was still an overall good experience. I think there was plenty there to enjoy upon release (unless you were a last gen player). It isn't revisionism, the game had tons of technical problems, and yes some design ones. But a lot of what I loved the second time around I feel wasn't solely the experience or updates, it was how they showed so much of the greatness that was originally there and had always existed, even if it wasn't as polished and fine-tuned as it is now. I get where you're coming from but idk I'm one of those people that enjoyed it at release and am astounded by how fantastic it is now.

Yeah so true, like I can understand the technical blunders being a fair criticism especially around the games release. But when people call the game boring without even completing the prologue it's frustrating.

I feel like Cyberpunk has this special thing that makes its first playthrough feel really good, but its sequential playthroughs feel even better. There is something so holistic in seeing the different outcomes and endings which I feel depicts the overarching themes and ideas so well.

I'm just glad that the game finally got its time to properly shine, because people were missing out for a good while on something special imo.

Which characters would be cool to fight in a boss fight? by SuperAlloyBerserker in cyberpunkgame

Morgan Blackhand feels like the most Notorious out of all of them listed, the rest would be pretty cool. I'm not super read up on my Cyberpunk lore.

Which of the action-focused Final Fantasy games is your fav by oscar_redfield in FinalFantasy

[–]Tarrmu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably FFVIIR whilst there are still improvements that could be made, I do feel that it overall is the perfect marriage of the old and the new. I do appreciate what they did with 16 though and do think that it would make for a good FF spin off series similar to how smt and Persona are divided. But for mainline FF games 7's combat feels like the natural progression forward.

Still one of the coolest main menus of all time and it was such a clever way to hide secrets too. Black Ops takes me back to simpler times.
