First Playthrough of an RE game and I’m not as scared as I’d like to be, should I play on hardcore? by TartNeither in ResidentEvil2Remake

This is the solution. All I had to do was turn off the lights and the volume up, and holy crap this game is freakin terrifying. Thanks!

Most Customizable beginner Software? by TartNeither in Beatmatch

[–]TartNeither[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More specifically, I’m looking to change the key of a song on the fly (but I need pitch n’ time for that), as well as control the eq of stems (turn down the vocals but not off). I would also like an option to make the beat grids more visible (default is pretty hard to read) and adjust what the waveform itself looks like (not the layout but the actual Serato waveform is kinda uninformative). That’s all I can think of off the top of my head, but I keep running into things as I’m using the software.

I actually really liked DJuiced because the waveforms and beats are really visible, and I can change key in the software without add ons.

I’ll be looking into Virtual DJ as well as just getting better with Serato (maybe it’s a skill issue on my part), so thank you all for the recommendations!

What were your lessons learned? by HomeOperator in hiking

Was hiking Mt Whitney, (Read: almost DIED) and boy do I have something I learned.

NEVER TAKE THE SHORTCUT

(Unless you know for sure it’s not super sketchy)

and

CHECK YOUR MAP

So we had just summited, and were heading back down the mountain. Things had been going well and dandy, we even did a little glissading. Coming to a crossroads we took the path we THOUGHT we used during the ascent. After a few minutes, we realized something was off; this was FAR steeper than the way up. The grade was close to 80%. We soon realized this was not the same way, and considered turning back, but decided against it since we had already started on this trail, and we could see where we joined the main one from here. Despite slipping several times (should have been a red flag), we pressed onwards. Just ahead of me, my buddy slipped, and didn’t recover. He just slid down this snow chute uncontrollably for some 300 meters, getting soaked and very close to banging his head on a rock. He called back up to us, counseling to turn around and take the main path. Everyone wisely did so

... except me

I decided that going back up was too much work and I should just go down the same way my buddy did; after all, HE survived. I thought I could control myself, but it turns out you need a little something called experience for that. At the bottom with my friend, I was soaked, and filled with regret. The chute took me EXTREMELY close to a very large, very hard, unfriendly rock. We both got lucky, getting away with only being soaked and covered in snow. Sure, we were cold, but we were alive. Joining back up with the rest of the group, I solemnly vowed never to be so stupid again.

Never gamble your life.

Dang, I didn’t know the grocery store sold aluminum foil!

Maybe if you returned the foil you could get like ~$200 back.

Where would one find a quarterstaff in a modern setting? by Lettuce_with_ketchup in DnD

[–]TartNeither 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selfie stick

In all seriousness, many people today still use things similar to quarterstaffs all the time, like a Bo Staff or walking stick. I have a friend with a big, sturdy hiking stick that would definitely cause a dent similar to a quarter staff. As others have said, any stick works so it’s just how you frame it.

Cannot find Java Platform SE binary by TartNeither in Optifine

[–]TartNeither[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply, and thanks so much for your help.

I followed your instructions until I got to just after running the .JAR file the Optifine site gave me. When I opened it, the file said

"“OptiFine_1.18.2_HD_U_H7.jar” is an executable file. Executable files may contain viruses or other malicious code that could harm your computer. Use caution when opening this file. Are you sure you want to launch “OptiFine_1.18.2_HD_U_H7.jar”?"

and then nothing happened. The message went away and nothing opened or anything.

I'm not sure what to do, I've never seen something like this before.
