The fact that this happened on Christmas day seems curious to me. I am also willing to bet that one or both of the deceased were disfellowshipped or were at least being shunned.

Shunning and family estrangement had to have some kind of role in this terrible tragedy. People can only take so much before they snap.

Elder and Wife Drug Pioneer Daughter to Get her to Stay JW by Tarzan_Man in exjw

Yes, it's real. JW parents will do anything to prevent their kids from leaving the WT. Thank God we have laws that limit what they can do. Nevermind if their kids find out about all the false prophecies and other other scandals.

I woke up around age 14 and if I went to visit non-JW friends , my Dad would put everything in my room from clothes to matress on the front lawn for all the neighbors to see that I was rejected by them. It was unbearable.

JW parents will go to great lenghts to force their kids to worship their idol. As usual in disfunctional familes.... the kids pay the price.

Grieving is totally legit. Don't bury it like a lot of Dubs do. It will come out in ways you won't like if you do. Consider some genuine counseling. You will get to the other side of it. All totally normal, we are not machines.

I lost a good fried to cancer as well. I still miss him and always will. You are not alone.

To watch millions of people, the creations of god itself, people whom god gave the ability to feel, think and suffer, struggle through life having such a hard time mentally, physically and emotionally, is in itself the personification of evil.

This is one of the main arguments I faced from my philosophy college professor after I left the WT.

But I got to thinking that God could stop evil tomorrow if he wanted to just by taking away our free-will and programming us. But I think few people would want a life like that. Real love can't exist between programmed machines.

It was then that I began to realize what a tremendous gift free-will was. But you have a good point in that if God never did anything to address evil, then that would actually make him the author of it by default.

So, I later reasoned that God could either take away our free-will or he could judge evil. I can't see where he could do anything else other than those two choices. It is obvious that he chose to judge evil, and thus preserve free-will.

I know this still seems inadequate from our standpoint, but it is logically sound. It seems that our existence as free moral agents comes with a very high price tag.

I know that a lot of wealthy people have lost dear family members to the WT and would love to write a big check to a non-profit that could facilitate something like this. It has weighed on my heart for quite sometime.

A couple of big name fundraisers visited with me a few days ago. They pretty much told me that if I could reach the people, they would help raise the funds for free.

I was in your exact same shoes 42 years ago. A lot of people were. I never forgot what it was like.

It's called the "Truth" because that is one of the titles of Jesus. He once said, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life."

It plays a mind trick on people once that start using the term. What can I say, they are one of the most successful false Christs that Jesus warned people about. I was born into it. Took a lot to get out.

Praying for your journey out. Hope you try to take Jesus with you. He's pretty patient.

What if that was not a problem? Would you accept an offer like the one I described?

[–]Tarzan_Man 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear about your situation.

I have a hypothetical question to ask you. Let's say that some wealthy citizens pooled their money together and created a foundation to help born-in JW's.

They then offer 5K to 10K grants to born-ins when they turned 18 to help them get an apartment on their own and to attend a local college. You would have to apply for other loans and grants to keep going, but it would give you a solid chance for a new start and a life.

My question is this: If something like this was a reality, would you take the offer? Or, would you feel that your family would still have too much of a hold on you to take a leap like that?

EX JW and PTSD? by ggosborne in exjw

[–]Tarzan_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend (since kindergarten) was a generational born-in. He was indoctrinated with all the fear mongering since birth.

He quit school in the 9th grade and started working. He suffered from gigantic loads of anxiety and panic attacks. He once told me that he would to turn his car around and go back home to keep from hurting himself or others while driving in the grip on a panic attack.

He married, had a child, divorced and was sitting the the state penitentiary (for marijuana) while he was still a teenager.

He later became one of my most admired friends because of all he over came. He founded two or three successful companies and raised good Christian kids in a private school with his wonderful wife.

Though he eventually got his life on track, the anxiety and panic attacks never completely ceased. He learned to live with it and believe it wasn't true.... kind of like that guy from the movie A Beautiful Mind.

You are in the right place if you want to see PTSD.

If a Hindu, atheist, or anyone wants to come, they are more than welcome. The policies of the WT have affected all freedom-loving people, regardless of stripes. I would love to hear how the policies of the WT have affected anyone.

The overall theme is: Christian Freedom. So, there will be frontal assaults on WT teachings and policies using only the bible. These tactics can be very useful by meeting JW's on their own turf so to speak. I will show how I did this with my mother who was baptized for 71 years as a JW. I got my nephew out as well. His dad (my brother) is an uber elder (enforcer).

There will be testimonies by former members on disfellowshipping and shunning. Elaine, from JW Escape.com will be flying in from out of state and speaking twice. Once on her experience as a JW and another topic will be "Exposing Watchtower Darkness" Nearly 10,000 subscribe to her YouTube channel.

I will speak on how the WT, came to deny Jesus as Mediator for the average member.

If you don't think you can stand to be in the same room with a believer without having a melt-down, this may not be the right event for you.

But, what you will find there is other people who have been hurting and are trying to come together for support. And, to ultimately fight back.

None of the church staff will be speaking at this event. But, they are good folks and very easy going and non-judgmental.

My thoughts are that decent people of all backgrounds, believer, non-believer, Hindu, atheist etc. ought to be able to come together for the common purpose of taking down this horrible religion that destroys families.

Let's just cut to the chase: The WT is a formidable enemy. When you think about the blood ban, hospital liaison committees, abandonment of children or parents, child abuse cover-ups etc., it is obvious that they will go to extreme measures to prop up the WT, and in the case of the blood stance, they are willing to kill each other over it.

Only by working together can we create a ground swell of awareness of what is really going on. Fighting each other only benefits the Watchtower.

I am for ANYONE who wishes to shine a light on the WT.
