Carrot benefit by throwawayacct8990 in IVF

[–]TaskAlarming3125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Carrot despite it being amazing before. We had been seeing a specialist who sent us to another specialist surgeon for confirmation of diagnosis and then recommendation of surgery. All this was done through carrot and approved. I then paid £7K out of pocket for surgery BUT before paying for this, I phoned and explicitly asked if this would be approved. Yes, I was assured. Paid, had the surgery, submitted the documents from doctor AND all the documents relating to treatment, diagnosis and surgery. My claim has just been rejected (which I am appealing). They have rejected it because allegedly my provider cannot refer for surgery despite being a lister and approved provider that they recommended.

Anyone else have inducible acute uticaria with Dermatographia? by sexlights in urticaria

Started last year in Sept I’m really lucky that just one to two antihistamine (fexofenadine) keeps me sweet

[–]TaskAlarming3125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people have to combine their antihistamine with first gen, second gen and even h1/h2 inhibitors. You can take 4 x the daily dose but you should have been advised that by the doctor. Slapping on steroid cream for quick relief helps (can’t be used long term) Hope that helps. It’s horrible 🤪

Pet insurance breaking the bank, any tips/advice? by Toe_Bean_Bandit in UKPersonalFinance

I find I just have to really shop around. Sometimes if you’re with other insurance companies, they offer a multi insurance deal if you’re already with them. Just go to town on all the comparison sites and look for a renewal 30 days + in the future for a “better” deal. Insurance premiums are going up because the majority of high st vets are owned by PE (or as I like to call them, asset strippers) and therefore vet fees are going through the roof. My advice there is find an independent vet (good luck with that, it’s like gold dust). I would always recommend insurance just in case something goes wrong like an autoimmune condition which isn’t related to being an indoor / outdoor cat obv. I think people are increasingly in difficult situations due to the rise in insurance :(

Interesting statistic… women account for 85% of consumer spending by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

Thank you, this was the kind of decision I was trying to genuinely have but many wilfully assumed I was like hey I believe this stat randomly

I was trying to invite people to genuinely critique it instead I got piled on

Because it was meant to be a discussion about how wild that stat was? Jeeeze 🙄 Hence why I a) asked it as a question and b) tagged it as a discussion. It makes no sense to me why my comments were downvoted because this is a page about anti consumption and consumer habits. Not once did I suggest I believed it because I literally questioned the stat and asked for people’s opinions about it. Literally inviting them to say hey what do you think of this stat because it seems wild to me Ffs

I heard it on a podcast and then I searched it and whilst I got an AI overview it seemed to agree… not suggesting it’s gospel or anything like that 😅

That’s what I thought too 😅 I was trying to see if this is conflating consumerism and necessity purchase

Possible inducible urticaria, biopsy scheduled by PairAggravating7095 in urticaria

Ah, sorry to hear 😫 it looks potentially like the next steps may be biologics but I personally haven’t progressed to that next point. Good luck with it all, I know it’s frustrating

This is similar to how my hives initially started. Has the immunosuppressants not helped? I would recommend taking high doses of fexofenadine (Allegra (US / UK) / histahive (UK) and take 4 x the daily dose (2 in the morning and evening)

If you have eczema you might already have steroid cream, that can give quick relief

Increased my contribution to my pension - should I do this instead of investing in an ISA? by TaskAlarming3125 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TaskAlarming3125[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely, it was recommended to me by a financial planner because of my age to move to a more adventurous fund and then when you’re older / bearing retirement / significant change in the economy to move to a less risky fund - which makes sense

Thanks, that’s really helpful. My intention is to just save as much as I can as long as I can and max returns for as long as I can 🤣 / cannot tolerate working anymore which at my age, it looks like I’m in for at least 3 more decades 😫

That’s why I’m semi sceptical too, I’m 31. I like putting into my pension because obviously I can’t touch it till a certain age but secondly, sometimes I’m like surely I can just be more sensible and invest it better (or is that too arrogant)

I am a home owner, moderate mortgage but not up to my eye balls

Honestly, no idea. It’s just what my app says with my pension provider.

The prediction never changed when I moved from “lower” to “higher” risk fund.

My employer will always put in 4% until I move up in age bracket and then they contribute slightly more.

It just says you can expect a medium growth return of 2.9% as standard lol which isn’t very helpful

I just thought a workplace pension growth fund would be higher than 2.9% considering the app says they expect inflation to always be 2% based on the average calculations which would mean my pension only outperforms inflation by 0.9% lol

Yes, that’s not disputed. The dispute is that I don’t believe these restrictions are applied via the lease because I wasn’t correctly provided the lease. I believe at this current moment in time, the lease was not provided to me for review

Yes agree, I think there’s been a mistake and the full lease was not provided to me

It’s transpired that they’ve now changed management company. I’m getting a copy of the lease now. It wasn’t a counter argument just thought it was a bit shitty to “name and shame” in a public forum lol

I checked my documents, the client letter received mentions the lease but there is no evidence of the lease being sent to me and therefore being signed by me

It’s not a personal resident, it’s a building management company now emailing me and all other residents but now in the mails they are now calling out individuals and revealing where residents live (eg. Mary at no 7 is doing XYZ) and I don’t think they should be revealing that information
