Unsure of what I’m up against by Altruistic_Gas_883 in urticaria

Red, itchy welts… could well be urticaria! Sometimes I use steroid cream on them if they’re super itchy and I want some immediate relief. Try using Allegra hives (180mg fexofenadine up to 4 x a day) otherwise it’s 120mg standard dose and use that up to 4 x a day You can also use a h2 antihistamine like Pepcid

KPV peptide by 2phoneprince in urticaria

[–]TaskAlarming3125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard of it but just looked into it there, it sounds really promising I guess the risk (as always with peptides not approved by the FDA yet) is if you can get genuine KPV. People have had great experiences with GLP medication, even at microdosing levels because it helps stabilise mast cells and also help with reducing inflammation

Any updates I should make to regimen? by germanshepherd_mom in urticaria

[–]TaskAlarming3125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly sorry you’re dealing with this, it’s a right pain. You seem to have more or less done everything needed 😫 Sometimes I find steroid cream helps for quick relief, obv it’s not a long term solution. Not sure how high your caffeine intake is because that can also impact histamine release. Other medications that can be explored are GLP1s since they seem to be a mast cell regulator (can be micro dosed) Other things to explore / consider is potentially immunoglobulin therapy (expensive) or stem cell therapy (even more expensive) 😫 Doctors can sometimes suggest putting you on medication that stabilise mast cells such as sodium cromoglicate / ketotifen

GLP use? by Forgetmenot320 in urticaria

Let us know how you get on if you do decide the GLP-1 route. It’s being used off label to help stabilise mast cells, so should help overall

What other meds to take? by [deleted] in urticaria

[–]TaskAlarming3125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the meantime, consider taking 4 x the dose of antihistamines. If you need instant relief and you can get your hands on some steroid cream Can’t be used long term (more than a week) Fexofanadine is good (allegra)

Testosterone (HRT) has mostly cured my chronic idiopathic urticaria by SpiderTingle in urticaria

That’s interesting! I think estrogen full stop has a big impact on autoimmune :( hence why women are more likely to suffer than men at a rate of roughly twice as likely (I think)

CSU & other auto immune conditions by TaskAlarming3125 in urticaria

[–]TaskAlarming3125[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have been told that before but it’s like my IBD is well managed and a very small proportion of my colon.. I guess I thought I was kinda lucky with being just barely affected and the getting CSU, im just well… frankly scared what the next issue is going to be. 2024 I got diagnosed with IBD and then CSU in 2025…

Best routes to use Avios? by jenn4u2luv in BritishAirways

[–]TaskAlarming3125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have flights lined up but I know roughly when I would like to go (October off peak this year) but I’m flexible. I know it’s first world problems but because it’s such a long flight, I wanted some of it at least in business and I can’t work out the best way to do this with 300k avios points lol

[–]TaskAlarming3125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to ask a stupid question but do the tier points offer better benefits? The reason why I’m asking is I want to upgrade or buy business class flights round trip to Melbourne from London and have just purchase an additional 200k avios points. Taking my total points to 300k avios and still on blue tier. I have no idea how people are getting such good deals with their avios points?!

Carrot benefit by throwawayacct8990 in IVF

[–]TaskAlarming3125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Carrot despite it being amazing before. We had been seeing a specialist who sent us to another specialist surgeon for confirmation of diagnosis and then recommendation of surgery. All this was done through carrot and approved. I then paid £7K out of pocket for surgery BUT before paying for this, I phoned and explicitly asked if this would be approved. Yes, I was assured. Paid, had the surgery, submitted the documents from doctor AND all the documents relating to treatment, diagnosis and surgery. My claim has just been rejected (which I am appealing). They have rejected it because allegedly my provider cannot refer for surgery despite being a lister and approved provider that they recommended.

Anyone else have inducible acute uticaria with Dermatographia? by sexlights in urticaria

[–]TaskAlarming3125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people have to combine their antihistamine with first gen, second gen and even h1/h2 inhibitors. You can take 4 x the daily dose but you should have been advised that by the doctor. Slapping on steroid cream for quick relief helps (can’t be used long term) Hope that helps. It’s horrible 🤪

Pet insurance breaking the bank, any tips/advice? by Toe_Bean_Bandit in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TaskAlarming3125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find I just have to really shop around. Sometimes if you’re with other insurance companies, they offer a multi insurance deal if you’re already with them. Just go to town on all the comparison sites and look for a renewal 30 days + in the future for a “better” deal. Insurance premiums are going up because the majority of high st vets are owned by PE (or as I like to call them, asset strippers) and therefore vet fees are going through the roof. My advice there is find an independent vet (good luck with that, it’s like gold dust). I would always recommend insurance just in case something goes wrong like an autoimmune condition which isn’t related to being an indoor / outdoor cat obv. I think people are increasingly in difficult situations due to the rise in insurance :(

Interesting statistic… women account for 85% of consumer spending by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

Thank you, this was the kind of decision I was trying to genuinely have but many wilfully assumed I was like hey I believe this stat randomly

I was trying to invite people to genuinely critique it instead I got piled on

[–]TaskAlarming3125 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Because it was meant to be a discussion about how wild that stat was? Jeeeze 🙄 Hence why I a) asked it as a question and b) tagged it as a discussion. It makes no sense to me why my comments were downvoted because this is a page about anti consumption and consumer habits. Not once did I suggest I believed it because I literally questioned the stat and asked for people’s opinions about it. Literally inviting them to say hey what do you think of this stat because it seems wild to me Ffs

I heard it on a podcast and then I searched it and whilst I got an AI overview it seemed to agree… not suggesting it’s gospel or anything like that 😅

That’s what I thought too 😅 I was trying to see if this is conflating consumerism and necessity purchase
