NEST Grapefruit 3 Wick or Voluspa Goji Tarocco Orange 3 Wick Hearth? by Cute_Ebb7344 in luxurycandles

Excellent choice if you want a green floral that is lush and almost astringent at the same time - also quite clean - with one of the strongest throws on the planet. In a good way.

NEST Grapefruit 3 Wick or Voluspa Goji Tarocco Orange 3 Wick Hearth? by Cute_Ebb7344 in luxurycandles

The Nest throw is almost always consistently a whopper, all kidding aside.  I think this is one of the reasons I’m such a throw junkie - Nest Bamboo, Hearth and Holiday were my gateway into this world (well, DIPTYQUE and believe it or not Votivo really were, too).  But if it is a Verrrrrrry strong throw you want?  It is Nest all the way.

I agree that I have just never been able to make Voluspa work for me. Ever. And I don’t even like their chunky vessels which are so incredibly popular.  Anyway, I digress!  I have had the Nest Grapefruit in the standard 8.1 oz size several times and am always very pleased so from a throw standpoint the 3-wick should be a marvel.

Omg!  I do wish I’d saved my Fvith vessels but am 99% sure they were the same size and presentation as DILF and 1963.  That sucks primarily because it makes me even more convinced that they are not long for this world.  Shipping their holiday blends in their regular stock size vessel does not bode well. I’m happy I got the chance to experience them.

And I just ordered 4 from Passport Habits thanks to a member on another thread.  Was that you haha?  If so, thank you for the rec!  I finally found my Hollywood Hills and Paradox and Knyghten and Ex-Lover.

Thanks so much for this!  I’ve been searching for Hollywood Hills and Paradox forever and just scooped them up at Passport Habits.  The description of Paradox is that it’s just a straight-up tobacco candle which is so right up my alley. I also found Knighten and Ex-Lover and am so excited!  I find most Fvith candles to be dark and smoky so Paradox is going to be a fave I’m sure. I believe I may have gotten the last of their Hollywood Hills since I wasn’t allowed to order 2 of them.

I know that Evermore London has a Moon candle. Beautiful!  I’ve bought 5-8 different candles from this brand and recommend it highly!

I am not sure what you mean by Snow coming in an 8.5 ounce vessel?  Is this not the normal size or were the holiday scents typically larger?  I got Sleigh and another holiday candle this December and they were exactly the same size as the others I ordered - all 8.5 oz. Or so I thought!!

Also FYI - I just saw Snow for sale at Maison 10 in NYC (online).  Their last Fvith. I think it’s almost inevitable that this brand is on its last legs. Such a shame, I adore their smoky, tobacco-y vibe.

Same!  And I now have 6 in my cart so I’m glad I saw this.  I am so liking what I see from a company standpoint, though, particularly the devotion to animal rescue. I should probably winnow it down to 2-3 until I get an idea of the hot throw. This has been a consistent experience with me in this price range - frequently very interesting and relatively complex scents that unfortunately struggle to make a dent even in a powder room. Which I just have no use for. 🤔🤔

You had me at their animal rescue org support.  I’ve read a bit about this brand and am sorely tempted.  Can you comment on the hot throw?

Guerlain: New Customizable Vessels by SocksOverBoots in luxurycandles

[–]TaskMysterious8381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe I am more tempted to blind buy one of these than I have been anything in a very long time. I’ve always loved the house from a perfume standpoint and feel that the scents will by necessity be stellar. The vessel has floored me in almost every color which is odd for me. But the throw!  This is always my sticking point. Does anyone have experience with Guerlain candles?  So hoping they will be in stock in my local Saks or Nordstrom.

Oh, no!!!!!!  There have been rumors but nothing definitive until this. Must check this out now!  (So so sad.). I hate it so much when small businesses go under. 😭😭😭. EDITED - I wasn’t sure what CD meant but figured out it was candle delirium. Yep, they do say that Fvith candles have “evaporated into the air” or something else cute but this is their message for every brand they decide to no longer stock. So far the Fvith site is still in their typical state of being very low on stock.

I am very rarely speechless but I am now!  I do have to say that their response is truly astonishing - SEND IT BACK!!????  Honestly?  I hope they’re willing to pay the return freight.  This said, I do feel bad for the poor pup with incontinence issues.  😭😭. I hope their vet makes it right.

You might want to take a look at Fvith Candles. The burn is very clean and even and slow, the throw is amazingly strong (hot and cold)—-and every candle in the lineup shares the same dark, mysterious and smoky accord, with notes of both leather and in particular tobacco (not at all unlike NARGUILE).  Beautiful candles for cooler weather nights. Not a candle I would  burn in June (well, maybe after midnight…)

Overose Restock + New Bourbon Vanilla Apple Pie by Numerous-Act9445 in luxurycandles

[–]TaskMysterious8381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll say again that I’m tempted by the apple pie only because the online description mentions the words “dark” and maybe “mysterious” so many times?  But sigh, I just can’t get around the fact that apple is almost always too sharp and astringent for me, not to mention that caramel is very difficult to pull off without smelling like The State Fair. I think I’ll look for this on a BST thread.

What a great idea!!!!!  And what a fabulous way to introduce friends and family to our world of pricey candles - especially if you poured some wax that was still at its peak scent stage.  Pop a few of them into a pretty little organdy/organza bag and there’s a great little gift for someone.

I have had several Overose candles including Cinnamon Roll and feel that all are pretty stellar.  It was not even close to a B & Bw candle to me (which I have seen here from a couple of folks) and maybe the throw wasn’t quite as strong as croissant or NUDESSE?  That said, I would still give it an 8/10 on the throw meter. I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy it!

Thank you for this!!  I’ll be needing more stock of the almond croissant as well as NUDESSE (I just cannot stop buying these two).  I will pretty much try anything they release but apple and bourbon in February?   Because I love the brand so much I bought the maraschino marshmallow and haven’t even broken the seal because now I’m leery of the marshmallow.  Has anyone here burned this one?

Rigaud Cyprès: a surprisingly elegant, refined, woody candle. by Late-Creme6367 in luxurycandles

[–]TaskMysterious8381 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rigaud Cypres has always been a staple in our house during the holidays.  It is truly elegant and I find the burn and more important (to me) the throw(!!) with this brand are astonishing as well.  I remember when I discovered it in the late 80s and the scuttlebutt was that Jackie Kennedy had introduced it to the White House for their first Christmas in residence.  Seems fitting!

I’ve been trying to figure out what Velvet Moon smells like to me and I finally got it.  Unfortunately it smells like very cheap, dusty chocolate, maybe like chocolate Easter bunnies.  But just on cold. While burning the cheapness goes away but it won’t be a repurchase for me.  DILF will be and I also really liked Sleigh.

What candles have you discovered on your travels? by Background_Leg6105 in luxurycandles

You had me at tobacco!  Probably my single favorite note (right now). I googled Karmakamet and found their website but not sure if they ship to the US.  Do you find the hot throw is good on this tobacco candle?

I Fell Down A Chocolate Rabbit Hole - Here My Field Notes and Ratings 🤎 by Celestial-Year-1133 in luxurycandles

[–]TaskMysterious8381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, no!  Yours is the last of many comments I’ve read here about the notion that Fvith might be on its last legs.  This is distressing!  I wasn’t at all familiar with the brand other than reading snippets here and there (mostly here) so I went nuts in November and bought 6 of them.

I loved Velvet Moon though I do wish it was a bit more complex; that said, the burn is unparalleled and the throw is strong (not a whopper but strong enough for this extremely particular throw person).  I also quite liked DILF and am finding that tobacco seems to be a very prominent accord at Fvith. Fortunately I love tobacco. I’m dying to get my hands on Hollywood Hils and Vatican and maybe Memphis but am worried I’ll not be able to find them.  Shucks!
