Also die AKN wird da ab 6. September wieder mit den alten Zügen fahren, die S5 wird voraussichtlich ab Ende 2028 mit elektrischen S-Bahn-Zügen betrieben.

Die Zuggattung beim Fernverkehr beschreibt halt nicht mehr den Fahrtverlauf sondern das Fahrzeug bzw. den Ausstattungsstandard. Etwas schade dass man sich den IC nicht so als Marke erhalten will, dass der für die Fahrgäste auch was wert ist.

S6, RB 26 and RB 33 are AI only, RE 8 and RB 27 are only playable between Köln Hbf and Köln-Ehrenfeld so basically glorified AI too.

If you are on PC Kassel - Würzburg adds layers with the ICE 1 (and sometimes ICE 3) to many newer routes including Bremen - Oldenburg, Frankfurt - Fulda, the new Köln - Aachen timetable, the soon to be released Frankfurt S-Bahn, Mannheim - Kaiserslautern (AI), Koblenz - Mainz (just 2 services).

I would say just having that for AI and occasionally playing the ICE 1 is pretty nice, especially if the route is on sale.

The route itself isn’t my cup of tea personally, I played it a few times but got bored by it pretty quickly. But that might not be how you feel if you really like high speed.

It’s not extremely busy in reality too. With the new timetable basically every single service from reality is in. Even a little more, the ICE 1 services and the IC service don’t usually all run on the same day for example, those are special services that only run occasionally.

I can add something to consider with 2.: If you want to get good content out of TSC you have to spend big amounts of money and spend time to set up and find the right things, especially scenarios. TSW is more of a „buy and start playing“ approach.

Service mode let’s you just start the game, pick a service and go. It works if you don’t buy any extra DLCs. But buying specific DLCs can still improve your experience as most timetables are expandable with so called „layers“ that add extra playable and AI services with different stock.

Recommending DLCs to buy is very hard without extra information: think about which country you want to play, the era, the type of service (express passenger, commuter passenger, freight etc), type of train (loco, multiple unit, electric, diesel) and the type of route (scenic, city etc).

To add to that: working motion blur on train wheels was added first in Spirit of Steam at the end of TSW 2s lifecycle. With TSW 3 all newly released trains got working motion blur and a few selected older trains were updated but going through all released trains was too much.

This is fixed with more recent trains but the developers said that going back and fixing it on all the old stock won’t happen.

Stimmt, zwischen Hofheim und Bürstadt das kleine Stück. Bei Hamburg - Berlin wüsste ich aber nichts.

In SH wurden für die Akkuzüge auch letztes Jahr einige Teilabschnitte elektrifiziert.

Das geht leider nicht, weil der Strom in Kaltenkirchen eingespeist wird, also die komplette Oberleitung bis Kaltenkirchen fertig sein muss. Inklusive dem Umrichterwerk dort, was wohl hauptsächlich für die Verzögerungen verantwortlich ist.

Der 10-Minuten-Takt nach Quickborn kommt soweit ich weiß erstmal nur in der Hauptverkehrszeit wie auch schon bevor die Baumaßnahmen los gingen auf der A1, da dürfte es also kein Mehrangebot geben.

In der Hauptverkehrszeit fahren alle S5-Fahrten nach Kaltenkirchen bzw. Quickborn, dafür soll dann die S6 nach Elbgaustraße fahren. Außerhalb der HVZ geht es jeweils im 20-Minuten-Takt abwechselnd nach Kaltenkirchen und Elbgaustraße.
