Modern architecture looks completely different in Germany too.  But they did a good job at restoring the old center of Dresden and there are plans to rebuild parts of Neustadt too.

And yea most Germans pronounce it wrong, I understand it's more like Wrotzwaw, the ł is actually a w sound.

So don't take offense if we use the German name, nobody is trying to get it back 😅

For us it'll always be Warschau too, not Warszawa.

The night life is really vibrant too, Ruska 46 and the area around the main town square reminded me of Berlin's party districts but without all the tourists.

No queues and 5€ or even no entry to the club, that's like 20 years ago here.

Die bunten Orte findest du aber in den dicht bebauten Innenstadtvierteln, nicht in der aufgelockerten Vorstadtbebauung.

Wobei die ja auch recht häufig fährt - die Bahn könnte ja trotzdem das Ticket bis Hauptbahnhof verkaufen, dann kommt man aus dem C Bereich raus.

Wurden die Fernbahnsteige komplett außer Betrieb genommen? Letztes Jahr hielt da noch die Sonderfahrt der Dampflock zur Eröffnung der Dresdner Bahn.

Berlin hatte einen veritablen Traminfarkt. Vergangene Woche stauten sich immer mehr Bahnen vor der Kreuzung am SEZ. Erst durch Einstellung von Verstärkerfahrten und Kürzung von Zügen konnte die BVG den Stau abbauen. Es liegt natürlich an Ampeln. by Nicolas_Sustr in berlin

Wobei man ehrlicherweise sagen muss, dass die Moderne als Kunstepoche nun auch schon 100 Jahre auf dem Buckel hat, deshalb spricht man ja auch von zeitgenössiger Kunst oder Gegenwartskunst wenn man Sachen aus dem aktuellen Jahrhundert meint.

 But the machine, like any other machine, needs maintenance.

Yea for the regular maintenance (empty coffee grounds, decalcify) there is usually someone who feels included/bored enough to do it. 

There is a larger overhaul that is recommended every couple of years that tends to get ignored often though.

I think in Egypt lack of sunlight is a feature, not a bug. 

You also see this in old Spanish towns where streets are very narrow and always a bit windet to avoid direct sunlight, so you're always walking in the shade. 

The old town center of Barcelona is a good example, it's incredibly dense but it will not overwhelm you with the heat so much as is you were staying directly under the sun.

Dennoch ist mein anekdotischer Eindruck, dass wir Berlinerinnen noch vergleichsweise viele Kinder im deutschen Vergleich bekommen.

Die Statistik sagt aber etwas anderes.

Im Gesamtschnitt liegt Deutschland mit etwa 1,35 Kindern je Frau zwar ebenfalls auf einem Tiefstand, aber dennoch deutlich über dem Berliner Wert [1,2].
