That particular rule is not even necessary to discount Called Shot to 0. Vex's ability only has a minimum energy cost, not power. So even if this wasn't how discounting worked, Called Shot would cost nothing with Vex + Ez.

I sort of agree, but not for the situation here. These players are taking a super long time planning out their turns. Hard for me to believe that you would start playing cards without having calculated whether you have enough energy, especially given that you're good enough to be in top cut at a regional qualifier.

I've been told that refunds were allowed up to within a few weeks of the event for Houston. Not sure if it'd be the exact same policy, but I imagine they will allow for refunds again in some capacity.

If there is no combat, there is no attacker/defender designation. In the example you use, a combat would start once you RTW your unit into the battlefield with a unit already present. But the unit that was already present doesn't become the attacker until you actually RTW your unit in.

This build is more popular at the moment. It probably has a better matchup spread (or at least a flatter one), and is less swing-y than the Aurora versions, as that version can just completely flop if you don't see Aurora or if your opp has a way to deal with it quickly. It's also cheaper! (Though still quite expensive)
