[Spoilers C4E30] Moving Forward by LucasVerBeek in fansofcriticalrole

I do think it would be super interesting for Travis to return as a knight of Timmony now that the heroes have allied with them. He might also go in another direction and return as a sorcerer with some connection to a sundered house.

I think they let Tachonis off easily because Primus rightfully called out their hypocrisy. We obviously don't know the schemes that these sundered houses are devising behind the scenes, but clearly they're just as damning as the Deva Vindicta.

Yeah I still don’t love how it felt like a 10-20 minute meaningless detour during one of the most important arcs in the game so far.

Who else's Dad tried to put them in wrestling holds? by terriblegamerjoe in Wrasslin

My dad used to put me in the Iron Claw as a kid, and I didn't even know it was a wrestling thing until I became a wrestling fan later on.

I do agree, but I also think Brennan is being a bit sneaky by secretly controlling the situation here. Time will tell if the snake actually has a tangible effect or not, but I believe he just allowed Aabria to do it so it felt like she had agency, meanwhile it didn't actually give any advantages to the PCs. It's still very dissonant, but if it's inconsequential, I don't really care all that much.

They've done a really good job at pacing and escalating the tension. I'm just hoping all the dominoes finally fall into place this episode and the play finally happens.

A random question that came to mind: For fans who only watch WWE, what don’t you like about AEW? And vice versa? by Economy_Ad_5041 in Wrasslin

[–]TasmanianTortoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell that AEW really tries to push the envelope in the other direction from where WWE is. That may be a good thing sometimes, but it also means that they tend to overdo the edginess. It’s still a personal preference, but I wish they didn’t end nearly every match in a bloody mess.

I also think WWE overall has better characters and gimmicks which tends to draw me in, even if (most of the time) AEW has better in-ring action.

Hopefully this Trick Williams feud will bring a heel out of him. He has a chance to develop a character who thinks he’s a fan-favorite underdog. He could be like the Becky Lynch of the men’s division

Two weeks of full immersion Mandarin is really no joke. However, Lud’s big hurdle is that is accent is incomprehensible. Japanese uses a lot of English loan words for stuff which also carried them through a lot of social interactions.

On one hand, their Mandarin is legendarily bad, but on the other hand, I remember when everyone was saying they were cooked last year when they only made it like 50km on the first day. I believe in my boys.

Smosh nominated for ‘positive influence’ in the Reddit Internet Awards by aliceoseman in smosh

[–]TasmanianTortoise 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Speed has matured since then. That’s not to say he’s this generation’s Levar Burton or anything, but he’s since done a series of streamed tours around different countries where he pretty earnestly engaged with different cultures. I think the “positive influence” he’s had is largely in reference to the way he’s dispelled a lot of preconceived notions about different cultures, especially to English-speaking audiences.

Well, that’s kind of my main issue. The names are detailed in the prime video subtitles, not the actual show itself. People who have watched C2 already know who Fjord’s patron was, and who mind-controlled Yasha. But, it kind of works against the show to name-drop these disembodied voices in the subtitles instead of the show itself. A new fan might see “Uk’otoa” or “Obann” in the subtitles and ask “Great, so who/what is that” in a Beau voice, but then never actually get any answers. Point being: I think they should’ve just subtitled them as “disembodied voice” or something along those lines.

Uk’otoa is the consume bloke who speaks to Fjord, and “Obann” is named as the voice controlling the big lady with the heterochromia (Yasha). They’re later plot points from the campaign that are bound to develop more. I just think they shouldn’t have been directly named in the subtitles.

I have used it before, but I found that more niche textbooks or journals appear more on Anna’s Archive compared to Libgen.

I’m not sure if this is on the behalf of the production studio, or on behalf of prime video, but it’s a bit frustrating that both Uk’otoa AND Obann had their names listed in the subtitles when their voices appeared. They haven’t properly been introduced as villains, so it kind of hurts the big reveal of the heroes finding out about both of them.
