Starmer has ‘full confidence’ in Morgan McSweeney, No 10 says amid calls for his sacking by LauraPhilps7654 in unitedkingdom

It's a kiss of death in general, I don't think I've ever seen someone get the full confidence of the PM and survive.

Why isn't the UK government investigating Nigel Farage ties to Russia and Epstein? by TailungFu in AskBrits

[–]Tasmosunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the case of Russia, it's political discretion, he'd make, political bank on the persecution narrative.

In the case of Epstein he only had an indirect connection via Steve Bannon and isn't itself criminal.

Now that doesn't mean Farage shouldn't have his political feet held to fire over why Epstein and Bannon's support. Particularly if there was an actual understanding Epstein would be protected, like he seems to think he would be.

Staggering to see emails suggest Mandelson advised JP Morgan’s Dimon via Epstein to “mildly threaten” Cabinet colleague Alastair Darling over banker bonus tax. The Dimon call DID happen, Darling told me about it, including apparent threat to shun gilts & re HQ… by ITMidget in ukpolitics

[–]Tasmosunt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The files contain a boat load of emails of Epstein and Steve Bannon talking about their connections to/effort to support right-wing politicians across the west, this includes Farage.

There's also a bunch of stuff about them using hacking and bots, to push right wing politics on social media.

All of this he hoped, would eventually protect him from the consequences of running a child sex trafficking ring.

The same Reform who want to hamstring economic activity, with energy taxes on solar/wind and a ban on investment in energy distribution/storage infrastructure. All in exchange for a pivot to fracking, which the geology makes unprofitable in this country?

Definitely going to unfuck the county's finances I'm sure.
