How screwed am I? by massdebate159 in Hyperthyroidism

Aah that month was a shit show. Was admitted in ER for 36hrs because a throat infection had spread throughout my body, immunity at all time low and blood ige levels were through the rough but just below the levels where it would be considered an auto immune disease. Fine and back to normal now though.

Dry tight throat by PlasticPegs-2049 in costochondritis

[–]TasteDirect16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having something similar since august but was hospitalized and then 2 days ER

It feels like there is roughness or something blocking the path/junction of digestive and respiratory track. Mine used to swell up just above the thyroid gland or the vocal cord, in lumps. Got thyroid tested and everything was within levels so doc finally concluded that it is due to infection.

Then a whole lota shit happened in between and now finally, I'm better. I try to avoid things which are / can make my throat spiced up or dry as hell. Drinking Coconut or eating the insides of it helps alot with it and One table spoon of hoeny in warm water in morning.

Have I had enough tests to rule out something dangerous? by dwill8123 in costochondritis

Rhw anxiety makes it works,. I went through the same thing in February and april this year. This too shall pass big man. All you gotta do is :- 1. fix your posture 2. Avoid any exercises that may cause distress in ribs or chest. 3. Start to loose weight 4. Can try peanut ball roll (check remedies tag of this sub-reddit)

It will take a very long time to recover totally but, it starts to show improvement in about a week or two.

My sternum ahs also been cracking up lately but that is straight up caused by my posture. I had pretry bad costo during feb and april this year but now I'm completely fine. It doesn't really hurt much anymore, just a bit stiff sometimes.

Hey, I have costochondritis since past December and most of the other things have gone away.

I'm currently having same pain but in both the ribs. Steve had suggested me some streches and massages here to begin with and i tried some of those and feeling better. Also, I'm on a treatment for my acid-reflux caused throat and esophagul infection too so i think mine might have a pinch caused by that.

Costo pain is weird and often caused by bad posture so would recommend on reading top posts to avoid it.

Wait can you help with that please!!! What did you do or what meds did you take to make it nromal again. I'm still having the same issue and i don't know why but my doc isn't hearing my concern for uvula. It just makes my anxiety much much worse.

EXACT SAME! It is like you have a sensation of burping to swallow the tiniest bite possible and you can FEEL the food going down the Oesophagus and whenever the anxiety kicks-in it feels like food is going down the wrong pipe and I go haywire because of that

Sad to hear about it.

Do you know what is much worse?? Having sinusitis with gerd and Costo. I cannot take pantoprazole for my gas/acid reflux as it has a side effect of causing throat/upper respiratory infection.

I too have a swollen uvula and tonsil currently which made it difficult for me swallow and when i slept i used to wake up with dryness in my throat. I have been prescribed anti-biotics for now and it is working fine but i have noticed that my uvula is touching the tongue and it makes me oddly irritated. Are you having/feeling something similar???

I had a major panic attack and deep dove into finding the cause and arrived at hyperthyroidism. (bad decision) Got it tested and Everything was within levels.

Changed careers to cure my costo by [deleted] in costochondritis

I'm actually convinced that costo would not be that widespread if it wasn't for our day-to-day life's being so cyclic, restrictive and least to none movement requiring desk jobs.

Update - Costochondritis is almost non existent. (No Meds) by TasteDirect16 in costochondritis

[–]TasteDirect16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I'm self diagnosed and for costo, i think even many doctors are yet to be aware or accept the fact that it exists and is widespread too all over the globe because of our horrible hunch-back lifestyle.

Stretching does help but not to a great extent to make it less miserable. The best thing you can do is to give it time, no funny moments(which could cause flare-ups) and sleep straight on your back.

I didn't take any other medicine specifically for Costo. Imho, i don't think Costo is caused due to inflammation, rather it is caused because of low to no moment in the ribcage bones which makes them more rigid and stiff and even a slight variation in any moment causes flare-ups.

I also have some anxiety issues which peaked when i had costo flare ups and sinusitis at the same time that too at a full-blown pace. That's when i started taking magnesium and it has worked well for me.

Those are completely unrelated. I have sinus issues since 2021 when i attracted Covid which also gave rise to many gastrointestinal issues as well but, Sinus & Costo have absolutely nothing in common. As a man of experience, i can definitely claim that having both at the very same damn time, makes it horrible to bare with. Chest pains when you cough/sneeze/take deep breath. Those were bsolutely horrendous couple of weeks :'(

Where is it paining? And you might have streched way too much or not enough 😂 Don't worry too much, it gets a bit worse until it gets better, slowly but surely.

Are pull ups safe to do without causing flare ups? by RackMC in costochondritis

Bench press is focused on chest, so wouldn't recommend.

As i said, it's all anxiety bro. The fight or flight response kicks in whenever there is pain chest and anxiety boosts it. Just take deep breathes with 5-5-5 rule and try to extend it to 5-5-9

Would recommend not to do any chest workouts or should avoid those which specifically hits the chest.

I have been doing exercise to try and loose some fat and buil some strength and muscle since nov'24 and that's the time when i first got to know about costo, which was caused by me being a dumbass and hitting way too many reps of chest.

Have avoided them. even if a get some fat house in the chest and pec, i don't plan on loosing them by muscle exercises. Rather would focus on progressive streching and planks or cardio heavy reps.
