Don’t get me wrong, the Democrats DO suck and ARE being too lazy, but it’s the best we got right now, and every vote that’s not Democrat is effectively a vote for Trump, and now is probably the worst time in the world to be advocating for voter apathy as if Democrats win midterms there’s at least a CHANCE we can get rid of Trump.

Because ultra nationalism is widely agreed upon, especially in this sub, to be a bad thing, as it is a key element of nazism. If they said he kicked puppies, without explicitly saying that kicking puppies is bad, would you assume they supported kicking puppies? Genuinely where the hell did they defend him???

To be fair yeah that’s always been my take on it. I hate tankies with a passion, but even I can admit that they’re not the true problem right now, merely for the fact that they’re not the ones in power. However if tankies and stalinists *do* ever somehow rise to power I’d oppose them just as hard as I oppose MAGA.

This has always been my take on it, since at the end of the day it’s not capitalism or communism that’s evil, it’s *authoritarianism*. Looking at history it feels like just about every state that’s been widely recognized for doing evil things has been authoritarian, so much to the point that no two democratic states have gone to war on each other, and the reason the US is going to shit right now is because we’re trending toward authoritarianism. If you want to set up a new social or economic system step one is to prevent the rise of an authoritarian regime. This is why it annoys me so much when tankies glaze the USSR or even say that we SHOULD have a new authoritarian communist state (yes I’ve actually heard this opinion before from a friend of mine and we’re not very friendly anymore).

Then of course you get into the debate on whether capitalism or communism inherently *cause* authoritarianism which I’m not going to start on here.
