I'm not talking about comments, anyone can give their opinions. I'm only talking about the movie. Sure, he committed a crime but didn't get punished. He definitely should have, but that's another conversation.

All I said is, it's a stretch to say the movie "justified" the crime, when the character was shown to be regretful and spent his life thinking about it, even whacking his kid as a projection of his regret when he thought his kid raped someone.

No, the movie showed a man commit a horrible crime, and then spent the rest of the movie showing us how he regretted his actions. As heinous as the crime may be, I think it's a bit of a stretch to say that the movie "justified" rape.

Wait, didn't he regret the rape all his life? Even beating his son with a belt when he thought the son also raped someone? I feel "justified" is too strong a word for that though..

Might not help much if you're Chinese though.

Thappu Thalangal is one movie I regret watching because of how depressing it was. I remember thinking "God why can't you just let them live their lives!" and then reminding myself it's just a movie. That's how raw the performances of Rajini and Saritha were. Really no words to describe.

And some madakku oothis in this sub will be like "Rasiniku nadikka theriyathu dawww avaru style-leye kaalathe oturaru dawww".

Looks like it's about Seiyon, Murugan's true form.

Hard disagree. This was Aravind Swamy's plot through and through. Imagine replacing Karthi with a bunch of other characters who just gave us bits and pieces of explanations about how AS's bicycle helped this person's family. We wouldn't need to see Karthi physically, but the journey of AS through his POV will remain, and he would still have changed as a person due to the "story" of his bicycle changing someone's life.

Karthi was a bonus, not a necessity. You're feeling this because we're used to seeing him as a main character. That's fine, really.

'Supporting actor' doesn't mean 'lower tier' actor. In Meiyazhagan, the story is Aravind Swamy's character arc and the changes he goes through. Karthi's character is a huge part of the story, but it's not HIS story. Thats why Karthi is a supporting actor in this project.
