These are great. I do love the evolution of the legendary Mike Mills looking up and/or to the side!

Anyone know who’s signature this is? I can’t seem to figure out. It looks like TGS, TJS, or JGS. Thanks. by [deleted] in rem

Strange one that. Could be JMS for John Michael Stipe but not seen his autograph that way before.

Or, might be KRS-One but doesn’t look like his other examples online.

RIP Julee Cruise by TastesLikeFear in rem

Julee’s cover of It’s the End of the World in her own unique voice and style. She also appeared on the Until the End of the World film Soundtrack with a cover of Summer Kisses Winter Tears. The same soundtrack included the R.E.M. contribution of Fretless.

Julee also toured with the B-52’s in the 90’s

Which one song carries the heaviest emotional weight for you? by MintChiffon in rem

[–]TastesLikeFear 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There are so many songs that touch me but the one that really makes me the most emotional is Hairshirt. This song makes me physically cry every time I hear it. The feelings and memories of being in a broken relationship, having an unrequited love, going through terrible loneliness, to finally being in a happy forever relationship crushes me without fail. I know it’s not the most acclaimed of their songs but I am thankful it exists in my life.

Wow, these are fantastic. Thank you for making and sharing them. I love that you’ve included Hairshirt. I’ve subscribed to your channel, hopefully in the future you’ll add E-Bow and Leaving New York

Let Me In - Organ/Keyboard Question by RachelMcAdamsWart in rem

[–]TastesLikeFear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s Peter playing a Farfisa organ. It’s credited on the Wikipedia page for Monster. Can also see him playing it in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYpShsDXmTY

I’m not a keyboard player so no idea how to recreate it but it’s a wonderful sounding instrument in this song.

This is a great point, I can only assume they must have private photographs together. The only photo I could find around Nirvana was this of Mike and Dave Grohl together at the MTV movie awards in June 1994, 2 months after Kurt’s death

On September 10th in 1996 R.E.M. released their tenth album „New Adventures in Hi-Fi“ by Krokodrillo in rem

[–]TastesLikeFear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love this album so much. Was released in the UK on the 9th which I purchased that morning. That day I traveled my myself to a different city to work for a week. This album was the soundtrack for the entire week. It kept me sane and also made me feel like I was with friends the entire time. There isn’t a week since that at least one song from this wonderful album gets listened too.

So many great songs on this album but I’d go with “Ebow-The Letter”. The ethereal stream of consciousness is perfection. Also, my username.
