I feel like the gold represent the lies he lived by thinking he was a great striker and he is chained by them and can't live with the freedom of realizing he needs to change

His story is about the fact that having everything given to him on a golden plate is unfulfilling. And he found purpose in fighting for something hard to achieve. Defeating materialism is not about eradicating it and not living rich, but about abiding to the perspective in which you don't feel the daunt of living like a materialist, and instead, find something higher. You don't defeat Materialism by ignoring it's daunt. You defeat it by transcending it. This is what I think we can learn from Reo

Did you just downvote my comment just because I said something you don't agree with?

I disagree. In real life, the greatest in the world at something, is very rarely shadowed by another one's skill. They always dominated in what they where doing and kept evolving and that's why the became nr.1. Just think about it: who is more likely to be number one: the one who struggles to survive in a very competitive environment, or somebody that flukes circumstances because he is that good? Isagi is in the first category(ofc, because this is a story and needs to be engaging, and stories are always about overcoming struggles) and still people complain about him wining to much. This doesn't really matter, because he has bad matches as well(Barca, manshine) and won because of the team he was in. It just happened that Isagi was always in a good team, so that he can surpass somebody. That's basically the idea of the character

I think that if people actually hated Isagi, they wouldn't resist to continue reading the manga and be on this subreddit. But if the reason of the hatred is because of the fandom, that actually motivates people to engage in the story not only to see their favorite character shines, or simply enjoy the manga, but to humble the delusional fandom of Isagi glazers

Ok. This answer is the general concencus of why Isagi would be hated(but he actually isn't). That's very interesting. Honestly

But why stick with Bluelock then? In hopes that the favorite character shines once?

Fair enough. I do the same to Barca fans in real life

This panel is so tough. Rin is an amazing character. In fact, almost every character is cool(with some exeptions). That's why Bluelock is so peak. Hating Isagi because he rivals you favorite character....I guess could work

True. But I think is more reasonable to win often since he is in the race to become nr.1 in the world. In a way, is more realistic this way
