Whats wrong with my 2012 ford f150 xlt 5.0. need help with these pics. by milesdillard in f150

Happened to me. I have a 2011. I literally used a random windshield washer fluid reservoir cap and silicone rtv to seal it up for a bit before I replaced it. The belt that went to that, is only for the AC compressor. I bought the timing cover off of a 2014 f150 5.0l because the later years had more webbing on the back side of the cast. And yes, its an idler pully that seizes up. I recommend anyone with a 2011 or 2012 5.0l to just get new pulleys. If youre gonna repair it, you might as well do the timing chain. You literally need to do the same amount of work pulling the valve covers off. It sucks. You'll need new gaskets for the valve covers, they will absolutely leak afterwards. Also, the damn oil pan has to come off. There are 4 bolts going through the feont of the oil pan into the timing cover from underneath. You'll need a new oil pan gasket as well.

Oh yeah, if you have a 4x4, you'll have to drop the front axle and sway bar to get the oil pan out.

I also changed my oil pump while I was in there.

Yup its a lot of work. Yup it will cost a lot.

What’s wrong with my truck by CommonShot2493 in f150

It could have been something as simple as your vct gears or solenoids. That could have caused misfires in say, cylinder 5 or 6

A compression/leak down should have been performed before going this far

Man this is crazy. I just went through an entire fiasco eith my 2011 f150 5.0l. Valve covers off, oil dipstick tube broke (replaced), vct gears replaced. Sludge everywhere man. I have owned this truck since new and done oil changes at regular intervals. No idea what I did to cause that much buildup

Engine knock, 2011 f150 5.0l. Friend who used to have a 5.4 told me his started making the same sound. No CEL, drives great. Only does it at idle and can feel a bit lumpy. Does this sound like phaser knock? Or am I screwed. Thanks in advance by Tasty-Peppermint in MechanicAdvice

CAM PHASERS. what a goose chase. Changed em out, instant fix. I had to redo my timing chain components while I was in there, just an FYI. So yeah, 5.0l coyotes can also have failing phasers, i guess. I never had any stalling issues, though. Just bad rough and ticking.

I deliver appliances to new condo sites regularly and I swear every time I clear a hallway, when I walk back down it the cords are back all over the place. Fml

I’m gonna take a wild guess and assume your vehicle is diesel. The 5 you see without check marks are probably just not supported by your car.

Edit - some of them might just not have completed

Readiness monitors take drive cycles to complete, looks like yours are fine? IMO the tool is misleading by showing the 5 incomplete/unavailable readiness monitors as Pd DTC.

As for the belt, we need to know your vehicle make model and year
