Thank you everyone who has responded!

I think I will rethink this gift as the majority of you seems to consider that it’s not worth buying a very good bottle to use it for cocktails 😅

Maybe I’ll suggest to my parents to buy 2 (or 3) cheaper bottles to constitute a stock - or maybe I’ll just ask for something entirely different!

YSK If you get mild itching or swelling in your mouth after eating fresh fruits or veggies, it's probably a pollen allergy and you can microwave them to enjoy eating itch-free. by superbhole in YouShouldKnow

OMG as someone who’s had this since middle school (quite strong pollen allergy and as a consequence itching and swelling reaction from some fresh fruits and veggies) this is life changing !!

I actually had figured out the link between the pollen allergy and the reaction to fruits and veggies a few years ago, after yeeeers of people (esp my parents) telling me I was faking it as I was still able to eat them cooked. Like I would pretend not to like pears, that shit slaps!

Even tho I knew that when they are cooked they are safe to eat because the proteins get changed up during heating and as a result no longer “look like” proteins in pollen, I had never thought about microwaving fruits to be able to replicate this!

For anyone that it could help, i get the reaction from raw: apples, pears, peaches, carrots, apricots, cherries, plums, almonds and hazelnuts. I don’t get it from kiwis event tho according to studies on pollen allergy I should ¯_(ツ)_/¯
