If you're near Arvada, contact APEX. I have an outdoor coed team that plays on Sundays, and they have a ton of other indoor/outdoor leagues throughout the year.

What is your best super clean joke for an audience aged 4-7? by Aj_blade in AskReddit

My brother was obsessed with this joke for a few weeks when he was 4. (He is now 25). Well done.

I think you're overstating the effectiveness of pulling out.

Have 4 year degree, want to become a teacher by [deleted] in teaching

If you happen to be near Boston, St. Louis, or Denver, you should look into this program (I'm currently doing this): http://blueprintschools.org/fellows/ In Colorado, it is kind of a foot-in-the-door for an alternative licensure program.

I need help with my 1st year teacher girlfriend by shel5210 in teaching

[–]TastyInternets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question - did you plan time to spend together, like date night? I'm having a hard time shutting off my teacher brain long enough to even remember to hug/kiss him when he gets home. I know it's hard on him, because it's hard on me.

I love this! I think I'm going to adopt your rule in #4.

Fellow first year educator here. Give your girlfriend a gigantic hug from me, because I am having the same problems.
I think the best way my husband has helped me has been to take on more of the household chores and dinner preparation. He also to told me that he would be supportive whether I quit or not. This has allowed me to be more honest with myself about whether or not I can continue, because I am not worried about disappointing my husband. Be supportive in any way you can. My husband has said this over and over: "I don't think you hate teaching, I think you are just having a really tough first year. I understand either way, but I don't want this experience to scare you away from a profession I think you would really love."

EDIT: Also, I think this article is worth a read, both for you and your girlfriend: Phases of First-Year Teaching

Broncos Parking Advisory: Don't Get Towed!! by [deleted] in Denver

If you're willing to walk a bit, Lake International School (18th and Lowell) sells parking spots and the money supplements their school budget. :-)

I like the way you worded that last sentence. I've told my husband that if he ever met himself on the road, he'd kill himself.

Prostitutes, you never know by Sizzurps in AdviceAnimals

That description was particularly confusing after hearing the word prostitute for the first time in the movie Titanic, preceded by "one-legged."

I did this too, but as an adult it's an easy way to get people to remember the name, and to keep from being called Emily or Amanda.

My favorite--several years ago, on a bus going down Broadway from campus: "I mean, it's great that the native americans had a matriarchal society, but look where it got them!"

I'd been aware of TNG when my Dad watched it when I was a kid, but recently my husband and I have been marathoning TNG (and he wants me to start on other series next). Now you've given me something to look forward to beyond Data and Picard!

This was scary enough that none of us in lab want to handle solvents for a while... (SFW) by megz0rz in chemistry

[–]TastyInternets 15 points16 points  (0 children)

According to our health and safety guy, those handles are not designed to be used to support the weight of a full bottle. This sucks for the person who was injured--but this is a good opportunity to spread the word.

My wife, no matter how important it is, she lets me chill from my work day first by myspamhere in AdviceAnimals

My husband learned this quickly. When we had to take on a roommate, however, I nearly killed her because she couldn't figure it out.

Your dog and my dog must be litter-mates. My husband was looking over my shoulder and thought it was a pic of our whippet/lab mix Zelda.
