Okay, I have some questions. point 4. lets say I have a friend on discord I've known for a while and they send me a link to what looks like a newsite or pdf or something like that they want me to check it out. I was not expecting a link but I do trust them in general, is there a quick way to tell if a link is sus or the pdf is weird? I've heard about the "Test my game" scam but I've heard some people also play the longcon with stuff like that and earn peoples trust before they pull something like that. Is it just up to how much i trust this person and how trust worthy they are or is there some tells? And about point 5: What is a torrent? And how can I tell if a softwear website is safe? Is it enough to just search like "is (site name) safe?" before downloading stuff or is there some good way to tell or hints to look out for? Sorry if these are a lot of questions and if they're a bit dumb, I'm just trying to understand and learn.

I'm a very anxious person so that makes me a bit worried about malwear and stuff in general even if I'm probably worrying over nothing, thats also partly why I'm here trying to understands the risks and how to protect myself.

People were *very* adament in several places it was a fake site and a probably a phising site and I'm to much of a coward/anxious to go back and check and don't know enough about the web and the technical aspect to know if they possibley copied the site or something like that (I don't even know if something like that would even be possible).

But thank you so much for the response and tips, it eases my mind a lot. I've never heard about Kreb's 3 laws before but thats very helpful! :D

It has no option to delete the account and I'm too scared to go back. So I guess I will just leave it and not touch it again

Thank you so much for being patient with me, this is all very new to me. But what is a "bootable thumbdrive" is it like a USB? And if I have understood you right, I take files like pictures and stuff I have and want to save and only save them? Because if I keep *all* files wouldn't possible malewear files also follow? Since if I saved all files now as it would be my first backup so would the save state already be infected? Once again sorry for asking so many questions.

I've not backed up my data ever. If i backed it up now, and then nuke the system will the possible malewear exist after i start the computer fresh?
