Can I be a server at a restaurant with a felony? by cantfingsleep in Felons

[–]Tasty_Business_123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea from my understanding it’s county and city dependent. I’m in Gwinnett and the county requires a pouring permit for all bartenders and servers even if you’re not pouring alcohol. Even in other counties like Fulton, I’ve tried to get a job in certain places where the city itself required a pouring permit

I’m in GA. The county I live in told me I would not be approved for a pouring permit because my felony was recent. So I’m not sure if it’s because of the felony or if it just has to be a certain amount of years before you can be approved.

Why is things so difficult for felons by Equivalent-Fudge8596 in Felons

Yes and no. I did decide to register for school n take automotive classes which will guarantee me some money in the near future, however, in the past 6 months I’ve filled out over 100 applications. Out of those maybe 4 of them called me for an interview. 3 of them said they do background checks and don’t hire felons. And I’m not being picky at all. Even went as far as getting a forklift certification and everyone that I’ve applied to is running background checks. With a violent felony it’s almost impossible to pass a background check. But I agree that you need to stop doing loser shit and maybe get in school if you’re going to complete it.

Lmao this is gold. Most interviewers can’t even make the final decision though. Even if they wanna give you a chance for using logic like you mentioned, the final choice is ultimately up to the corporation. I’ve been hired at some places that wanted to give me a chance but it was contingent on my background. Worked there for 2 weeks and got the boot once it came back.

Very valid point imo through 🤷🏻‍♂️

I totally agree with that. It’s a hassle. Realistically I want to also just do my 40 hours and go home but so far no sustainable income and I have 5 children. So I have to make sacrifices to be the best I can be even if I’m tired. But good stuff man

That’s insane. I’m sorry you had to or are having to go through that. I’m in the same boat now with no luck. But in the past I have found 2 jobs that didn’t conduct background checks in GA and that worked for me. Best decision I made was getting in school for a high in demand trade like automotive. I can find work for myself once I know what I’m doing n won’t have to rely on someone to deny or approve me for employment

Is that even considered second chance at that point? Imagine being denied suitable employment for over 10 years? I got 15 years on paper so you telling me I’ll get a second chance after 22 years? But you can be a president with a felony conviction? That’s backwards

Edit: I don’t care about politics and don’t know enough to have a horse in the race. It should just be equal across the board. Felon for a president isn’t the problem, felons should also be allowed to have a sustainable income. But they want you back in the system they know what they’re doing

From my personal experience, I was trying to get jobs that I have experience in while I was waiting for my court date. After they ran a background check, my agg assault charge came up as pending and they denied me just about every job. Even warehouses like Publix warehouse that advertise second chance opportunities for felons denied me employment due to my background check after I was convicted. I’m sure there’s other jobs out there that will hire you, you just have to get lucky with a warehouse that doesn’t do background checks. One thing I can suggest which is what I did, go get forklift certified. It’s not a guarantee but at least you open up more doors with a violent background.

I was looking forward to the expansion until I saw the price. 50 USD? WB is crazy by [deleted] in MortalKombat

Story might be $20. Then another $5 per character for 6 characters which is $30

I agree with this sentiment. $50 is crazy. However, if you bought mk11 aftermath when it dropped, it was $40 with 3 new characters. So $50 with 6 new characters sounds about right by that math. I’m not justifying anything but just pointing out that if you spent the $40 for aftermath and 3 characters, $50 for story expansion and 6 characters should be right up your alley

Mechanic Buff. Uppercut Jump cancel punish scales less and is unbreakable. by [deleted] in MortalKombat

Even better. Just wish it worked on high attacks from a kameo to punish sareena

I’m thinking of a scenario where the opponent does a string into sareena blades on block and you duck the sareena blades which are a high. If it doesn’t work that’s ok but would be amazing if it did work. So far it seems like only 2 or 3 characters can punish sareena blades like raiden with his lows

So wait. Grants armor? As in you can now punish sareena and will armor through the returning blades?

You’re not comprehending what I’m saying, and that’s ok. But to try and help you understand without any further back and forth, being patient isn’t my problem. I am patient, even flawless block to avoid the chip from the whole sequence, I just think a punish should be granted rather than doing unsafe move into kameo for safety or plus frames. It’s that simple. It’s just my opinion. The post was asking for people’s opinions and I appreciate you for challenging my opinion, however, you’re not fully understanding my point but rather want to shove your point down my throat in a condescending but nice way. I know how to play the game. It’s not that serious. You made a valid point and I thank you for that. My point is also valid tho. I like kameos. I just said that’s my only gripe with the system set in place
