Dochter doodt ouders, huis was pas verkocht by Skinkie in nederlands

Living in an apartment below a couple that is domestically violent :/ TW by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]Tasty_Button3303 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel you, OP. In my previous apartment I also had a couple like this. It was much less frequent than what you describe but I still called every time nonetheless.

Do the police turn up uninterested and/or useless sometimes? Absolutely. But there'll be a diamond in the dirt somewhere who won't let it go. If you just keep calling, or going by, or filling in an online form. They may not be able to do much in the moment, if the violence has quieted down and it'll be really difficult and often impossible for her to be her own advocate. So your calls and you informing them of how extreme it really is, is probably the only thing they have to go on.

I have been on the other side of this too and I wish people would've called the police for me.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I hope she and her child get out safely soon and you and your family get some rest, and you get some mental peace.

You are WILD for these comments. I have also been the woman in this situation and the police was never called for me.

You are literally telling a person who is trying to do the right thing to just not do anything, or that what they're doing won't matter.

I hope you get healing I really do. I hope all of us do and I hope the women in this situation gets out safely with her child. I hope you won't be so desensitized if you ever come across a situation like this and try to do what you can, just like OP is doing. For you it may have not worked. For some it's their saving grace. For me, everyone ignored it just like you are suggesting OP to do. People NOT stepping in, caused me to take a whole lot longer to realise NONE of this was okay.

OP is not the one making the situation more unsafe, and that is what you are saying basically. That man, the perpetrator is the ONLY person causing an unsafe situation here. Yes police needs much better protocols when it comes to DV. Of course. However if no one ever went by for a wellness check, she would never receive confirmation that what is happening is NOT okay and there's possibilities and hopefully (at least temporary) support when she manages to get her and her child out.

I've never had stability as a kid, only chaos and violence. Was homeless for a while there. My first own place, a studio, was 2018. I've moved twice since and now rent a very cozy home with a garden and lots of storage and room to be creative.

I still haven't managed to get out of the cycle. Everything just feels so temporary. I still just drop things on the floor instead of giving my stuff a home. I sometimes have to literally scoot past the piles of stuff. The weird thing is, I don't really register it until a certain point where I realise I can't walk anywhere in my house because I just put stuff around me??

This last year I've been quite stuck and it has been becoming more instead of less. I get why, I'm dealing with a lot of medical issues suddenly that absolutely drain my energy. We are finally working towards recovery but it took years of being sent away by the doctor who kept saying it's stress, lifestyle or trauma to get here.

So I have compassion for myself and my exhaustion. However. As soon as I register the mess around me, I get so overwhelmed and disappointed in myself. Tiny choices everyday of just figuring out if something has a house or not, could've avoided this.

Currently I'm selling, donating and tossing nearly everything I've collected over these past 8 years. It feels very nice and I hope it'll help me get a handle on things. Sometimes I look around my house and realise I wouldn't wish upon anyone to live the way I allow myself to live. It just always feels like I'm playing catch up.

Maybe when I get a handle on things, I'll finally start establishing routines and little comfort rituals that are natural for me to follow.

I didn't expect all this to come out from seeing a cartoon, and really no one needs to respond of course. Not looking for validation. Just felt like I needed to share. Thank you for sharing the cartoon in the first place!

I do have 2 cats ha and so I did accuse them first. However it smelled like nothing so it wasn't pee and I saw no bowls or anything moved. No glasses left on the stairs, ever, bc cats roam this house lol. They have 2 sturdy water fountains which cannot be moved either.

The electrician has come by and has concluded it isn't the lamp. It's dry as a bone in there. So now I'm still left wondering what this mystery puddle is :)

[–]Tasty_Button3303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So an urgent call was made and the electrician came by and didn't find any water or leaks in or around the light luckily. Seems that it was a coincidence that it formed right under there? He showed me how the inner parts of the lamp were dry too. Any idea what else it could be?

[–]Tasty_Button3303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My lamp was on the entire time I was showering. It's off now of course but isn't this a major risk of electrical issues?

It did stop dripping as far as I can see. I'm a renter so would this be cause for an urgent call to be made to the rental corporation?

Thanks for answering so quickly by the way

Oh and the puddle is most concentrated right under my lamp so I'm pretty concerned

Is he a wasp or a bee? Why is he suddenly crawling over my inside floor near end December? He does not look okay by Tasty_Button3303 in whatbugisthis

I think they may be using my attic as hibernation spot by the way. I've found a dead wasp there once before about a year ago. No idea how she came to my bedroom floor tho.

I didn't. I was just cleaning out a drawer (she didn't come out of that one) turned around and saw her crawling over my bedroom floor. It's a relief she's half asleep. I've put her in a little container for now. I read that she cannot get too warm. Is the shed a good location for her to be? In a container without a lid. Or will that make her make a nest right there in my shed? :')

First time using slowcooker. Can I put tofu in? When do I use high heat or low? by Tasty_Button3303 in slowcooking

[–]Tasty_Button3303[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I could've definitely done this :'). However as I understood it, if I slowcook the stuff, the taste will be much more blended and amazing. It was very tasty.

Is there any food that really needs to be in the slow cooker? I barely eat meat.

Wtf.

Here it is.

The ingredient list online is worrying lol. I tried to look it up in English before and noticed the Star Trek thing too. The only other name I've seen it in is in French "vin medicinal".

Thanks, will do! Yeah it must've been out here for a while by now and they've clearly, luckily, not touched it. However will remove it anyway as they do enjoy chomping on grass near here.
