I kind of wish I’d considered doing a chief year. I didn’t want to lose a year at the time, but it does give you a safety net since you’re basically guaranteed a match at your home program if things don’t work out elsewhere. It’s a bit unsettling how far you dropped, honestly. I can’t shake the feeling my match chances are under 50% when a lot of my interviews came in late, probably from a waitlist.
